You think I am liberal/wacko, check this out....

Thread on Democratic Underground:

OMG PLEASE sign this petition! Korea about to legalize dog meat!!

We request that the Korean President should end the policy to legalize dog meat (hygienic control of dog meat). Instead we ask that the President should promote the legislation that bans the slaughter of dogs and cats for food/medicine and prohibits the consumption of dog/cat meat.

There will be so many positive changes when Korea expels dog and cat consumption:

Why should the Korean government ignore a policy that brings so many positive changes?

Hygienic control of dog meat will result in criticism that the Korean government is encouraging the slaughter of dogs, animals most beloved by Koreans who value trust and friendship. It will break the hearts of animal lovers within Korea and abroad. It will encourage the consumption of even more dogs & cats and will create misery to even more companion animals. Such a policy will worsen Korea's already tainted image and further spread geriatric disease due to fraudulent health myths..

It is easier and requires less public resources to put a stop to the dog & cat meat trade. The costs and dangers to regulate this fraudulent industry are too great. The Korean government is ill-prepared to meet this challenge. It is not worth pleasing a minority of dog eaters and illegal dog meat traders at the expense of millions of Korean people and animals.

We request that the President rethink his opinion.

My Response.....

Petition from the People of India, to George W. Bush

Speaking of dog meat, never eat in an Asian restaurant in Hawaii where the menu just says meat. If it don't say beef or pork, beware.

Yupper. And only eat the ugly animals, like cows and chickens. Cute animals like deer and rabbit are off limits! And no baby cows either. Wait til they grow up.

Funny how we discriminate in this country ... against everything and everyone.

I eat everything, ugly or not... My rule is "I eat it before it eats me"... Well it's the opposite in a relationship of course, "I only eat it if it eats me first"... Or something like that...

But the reference to waiting until it grows up is actually pretty funny...

I ate dog meat with some regularity when I was in Thailand in '73-'74. Seasoned properly, it is actually quite good....

Why thank you! And it's true, at least with some of the people I know. Baby cow=bad. Big cow=good.

I call them idiots because they admit to eating one hooved animal - cattle, yet give special status to another.... hooved animal - horses.
Wally says "red meat bad" - fine - his choice.
Jersey Girl is vegetarian - fine - her choice.

little known fact from medical science.

Some people, actually quite a few, can't digest red meat. Not strong enough digestive acid to break down the leather.

I think the difference it that you draw a set of wings on a horse and it is a magical and mystical Pegasus... you draw a horn on a horse and it is a magical and mystical Unicorn...

You draw wings on a cow and it is laughable trying to picture it getting off the ground, you draw horns on it and it is a Bull...

So you can't even make it mystical or magical, so screww it, just eat it....
