Why would someone need to hunt with an AK-47?

They should just charge this grandfather for being an idiot. Reckless idiocracy.

-----------------------------------------------------

LAVACA COUNTY, Texas -- A 14-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed in a hunting accident by his grandfather, investigators said.

According to the Lavaca County Sheriff's Office, Taylor Michalec's grandfather said he was walking behind the teen when the trigger on his AK-47 assault rifle snagged a branch and discharged, striking the teen in the back.

The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon near County Road 290, about five miles west of Moulton, Texas, about 100 miles east of San Antonio.

Both his father and grandfather tried to administer CPR, but when EMS responders arrived, the teen was pronounced dead. Michalec had just completed his freshman year at Steele High School, where he was a member of the football team.

Lavaca County investigators said they will not file any charges on the boy's grandfather because the shooting appeared to be an accident.

Always carry CLP.

No one "needs" to hunt with an AK, but if a person is an idiot, they will be an idiot regardless of what fire arm they are possessing. Clearly, the guy wasn't using proper muzzle control, nor was the weapon on safe which proves he was an irresponsible hunter and idiot.

How do you figure? Bullets are bullets, and whether this was from an assault weapon or an approved rifle (and the difference is largely cosmetic) makes no difference. As another poster said, it's simply a gross negligence in proper fire arm usage.

No, it's not. The type of gun in this case doesn't make any difference.

Stupid, yeah. But an indictment of owning assault weapons? No.

Would you like to insert your foot in your mouth now or later?

Edit: probably over reacted on my part...

yes

I've never been hunting, isn't it wrong (besides not using the safety) to keep your finger on the trigger? Has that man never seen Pulp Fiction? Too bad he didn't shoot himself instead...

Do you walk around with the safety off ?

Hunting with an Ak-47. Even I know that weapons like this are not exactly accurate and iirc an AK is less so than say an M-16. Are you telling me that an AK-47 is a good hunting weapon ?

Its designed to kill/injury people on a battlefield, it isn't accurate but it does have a large mag.

While you may have done that, I find it hard to believe you consider it a good hunting weapon or am I wrong ?

I'm guessing novelty appeal ? Was it and AK, I'm guessing not, it sounds like you are stretching the definition to make a point.

His finger wasn't on the trigger. The trigger guard didn't do its job... A branch got snagged whith-in the trigger guard causing an accidental discharge. The safety would have prevented this type of accident.
