Why are Christians against the Global Warming Theory?

Which one of their beliefs is attacked by Global Warming?

Christians are known for their skepticism and must have absolutism. One cannot be expected to believe in something that can't be proven.

I've never heard of Christians being against any climatology.

There are a lot of environmentally conscious Christians. I would be one of them.

Is this intentional comedy?

That is a gross overgeneralization of a stereotype. There is a growing group of Christians in favor of stewardship of the environment. I had a thread on here a while back about evangilicals joining up with environmentalists on global warming and other issues.

I'm a Christian and I (cover your eyes, Russ ) believe that there is something to global warming.

why would religion have anything to do with geology, climatology, astronomy, botany, genetics, sexuality?
They (at least the monotheists) have been wrong over and over when they try to fulminate on subject that have nothing to do with mythology.

KOC may be referring to the "Left Behind" crowd. There is a significant proportion of Christians who believe that Christ's second coming will happen during their lifetimes. Some people see the damage done to the environment as a sign that the end is near...therefore Jesus is almost here. So, from that viewpoint, it's not worth trying to save the environment.

On the other hand, though, there are Christians who believe that God gave humans the earth to live on, and because of that, we should protect it and treat it well.

I personally don't see why anyone wouldn't want to save the environment. The business argument is the only one that is even somewhat legitimate, but I hope I can invest early in the companies that figure out how to clean up the pollution.

I do believe Jesus is coming back some day and he is not going to Mars to meet up with us. So the earth and the human race will be around for that. The problem is no one knows the day or hour. It could be today or it could be a million years from now. But either way that is not an excuse to destroy your home.

On the other hand, though, there are Christians who believe that God gave humans the earth to live on, and because of that, we should protect it and treat it well.

I agree, God put us on this earth to work it, take care of it, and rule over it. So a Christian should care about how the earth is treated. Resources were put on/in this earth for us to use but not abuse. I guess the disconnect happens at where each person draws the line between responsible use and abuse is drawn.

I personally don't see why anyone wouldn't want to save the environment. The business argument is the only one that is even somewhat legitimate, but I hope I can invest early in the companies that figure out how to clean up the pollution.

Cleaning up the environment and Man Made GW that will result in the end of the earth are two separate issues to me. For me personally, I just don’t buy the theory that it is totally man made and the earth is going to burn up because of us. Scientist are good at measuring data they just suck at their predictions. Just about 30 years ago they were saying we were going into the next Ice Age. What happened to that? They got new data and changed their direction, no harm no foul. Russ has shown more then enough evidence to throw a little doubt onto the grave outcome they are predicting so I will not go there. The earth has a way of correcting itself. It might be through GW or an Ice Age but it will survive as will the human race.
.

To be fair most of the Christians I know do not put much belief in Global Warming. I think they all recognize that GW is occurring, just not the doom and gloom Man Made GW that is being hyped. I do have some Christian friends that do buy into it completely. (they seem to be the same ones that thought Y2K has going to reap havoc )
