BUSH-ROMNEY? Just speculating . . . if Massachusetts Senator John Kerry wins the Democratic presidential nomination. On New Hampshire primary day, Vice President Dick Cheney met with the pope and visited American soldiers at a military base in Italy. On that same day, Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney traveled to the Granite State to defend President Bush and slam Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
I would be suprised if Cheney wasn't on the ticket in 2004. However, it would also make sense for the Republicans to pick a "rising star" as VP to be set up for his or her own run in 2008. But with the poll numbers tightening, I think they will want to "stay the course" with Cheney.
I think Cheney will be replaced.
Cheney will have a nice exit.
Right now he's gonna be too much of a target by the democrats and therefore a tremendous liability. I think the republicans may bring in someone with a strong military background to balance things out against Kerry.

Agreed - the Republicans will blame everything on Cheney (Iraq, etc) and then send him off to the ranch to collect his millions.....
Few expect a midcourse ticket correction. Cheney remains popular with the GOP rank and file and with social and economic conservatives who are increasingly uneasy about Bush's deficit spending and immigration-liberalization plans.
But if the president's approval ratings continue to slide, and criticism of Cheney intensifies, it could lead to some GOP soul-searching.
