At a speech to Naval Midshipmen yesterday he told them they may soon be leading a Marine rifle platoon.

Now, does "Green Card" refer to the fact that you a non-resident alien here in the US?

The US Navy (USN) and the US Marine Corps (USMC) are in the Department of the Navy.

BTW: Serving time on board a destroyer or carrier is not really "sailing."

Midshipmen can choose to serve in the Navy or USMC.

Do you Gringo Warriors not see the harm you do to a true sailing man when you tell him he must forgo his dreams of the South Seas and adventure on the high seas to carry a rifle on the hot sands of Iraq.Just look what happened to the sailor in a Texas Naval Station when he heard the news.

I just heard about it.Some Naval Reservist tried to kill himself and shot a couple of others trying to stop him.I had to assume they handed him a rifle.
