What Is Going On With The U.S. Dollar?

The relentless dollar selling showed no sign of letting up in New York Tuesday, with the dollar sinking to new lows across the board.

Oil trades in US dollars.

Dollar losing (understatement) value to every other currency.

Cost of oil going up to compensate.

Inflation risk domestically.

Doubtful.

China pegs its currency to the US Dollar. Dollar was down almost 17% last year versus other major currencies. Trade deficit with China actually grew. Mexcio dosen't offically peg the peso to the dollar, but it generally moves with the dollar, trade deficit with Mexico grew last year.

Well if it continues to fall China or Japan will probably end up buying dollars to increase its worth since our falling dollar decreases their wealth substantially.

I also bought some New Zealand Kiwi's on the advice of my broker about 3 months ago....I have made a ton of money on that deal too

Speaking of investments....the declining value of the US Dollar makes the US stock market a less attractive investment for forgien investors. At the very least the will have to think that there will be a greater return on the investment in order to be compensated for the devaluation of the dollar.

My bad, Chiarman Greenspan said today that we shouldn't worry about the declining dollar:
