What are our Presidents IQ's?

I'm sure some of you will shoot this down and deny it any validity, but I thought it interesting. (If this has already been posted, except my apology)

In a report published Monday (no idea the actual monday this was reported), the Lovenstein Institute of Scranton, Pennsylvania, detailed its findings of a four month study of the intelligence quotient of Presidents.

Since 1973, the Lovenstein Institute has published its research to the educational community on each new president, which includes the famous "IQ" report among others. There have been twelve presidents over the past 50 years, from F.D. Roosevelt to G.W. Bush, who were rated based on scholarly achievements:

1. Writings that they produced without aid of staff
2. Their ability to speak with clarity, and several other psychological factors, which were then scored using the Swanson/Crain system of intelligence ranking.

The study determined the following IQs of each president as accurate to within five percentage points.

In order by presidential term:

Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D] 142,
Harry S Truman [D] 132,
Dwight David Eisenhower [R] 122
John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D] 174,
Lyndon Baines Johnson [D] 126,
Richard Milhous Nixon [R] 155,
Gerald R. Ford [R] 121,
James Earle Carter [D] 175,
Ronald Wilson Reagan [R] 105
George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 98,
William Jefferson Clinton [D] 182,
George Walker Bush [R] 91

In order of IQ rating:

182 . . William Jefferson Clinton [D]
175 . . James Earle Carter [D]
174 . . John Fitzgerald Kennedy [D]
155 . . Richard Milhous Nixon [R]
147 . Franklin Delano Roosevelt [D]
132 . . Harry S Truman [D]
126 . . Lyndon Baines Johnson [D]
122 . . Dwight David Eisenhower [R]
121 . . Gerald R. Ford [R]
105 . . Ronald Wilson Reagan [R]
098 . . George Herbert Walker Bush [R]
091 . . George Walker Bush [R]

The six Republican presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 115.5, with President Nixon having the highest at 155. President George W. Bush rated the lowest of all the Republicans with an IQ of 91.

The six Democratic presidents of the past 50 years had an average IQ of 156, with President Clinton having the highest IQ, at 182. President Lyndon B. Johnson was rated the lowest of all the Democrats with an IQ of 126. No president other than Carter [D] has released his actual IQ (176).

Among comments made concerning the specific testing of President G. W. Bush, his low ratings are due to his apparently difficult command of the English language in public statements, his limited use of vocabulary 6,500 words for Bush versus an average of 11,000 words for other presidents], his lack of scholarly achievements other than a basic MBA, and an absence of any body of work which could be studied on an intellectual basis.

The complete report documents the methods and procedures used to arrive at these ratings, including depth of sentence structure and voice stress confidence analysis.

"All the Presidents prior to George W. Bush had a least one book under their belt, and most had written several white papers during their education or early careers. Not so with President Bush," Dr. Lovenstein said. "He has no published works or writings, which made it more difficult to arrive at an assessment. We relied more heavily on transcripts of his unscripted public speaking."

The Lovenstein Institute of Scranton Pennsylvania think tank includes high caliber historians, psychiatrists, sociologists, scientists in human behavior, and psychologists. Among their ranks are Dr. Werner R. Lovenstein, world-renowned sociologist, and Professor Patricia F. Dilliams, a world- respected psychiatrist.

Please.

So the smartest President in history doesn't know when he has had sexual relations?

Even a retard knows when his peckers being sucked.

I say based on new words invented, W is by far the smartest president we've ever had. I just need to make it look all official and stuff.

Really? That is your argument? I'm sure you can come up with better to disqualify this report. A retard can make up new words, but that would not be an indicator of intelligence. Are you really saying that Clinton didn't know he had sexual relations? Yes, he claimed he didn't know it included what you said, but everyone knew he was lying not that he is stupid. I have seen men and women lie when confronted many times in regards to something their spouse would disapprove of. I'd imagine it an awkward position to be in and worse when it is in front of the world. It proves he was dishonest, but does not prove lack of intelligence. Like I said, I just found it interesting. We will never know if this is valid or not, really doesn't matter.

I believe the study.

Clinton was much more intelligent that G.W. you can tell by the way they speak.

91 is pretty low though. Did he have to ride the short limo to school?

When he was in the National Guard I've heard the "plane" he flew was painted yellow, had 4 windows, and had a sign that read "Slow. Children aboard."

For what it's worth, my IQ was registered as 180 when I was in school and I am dumb as dirt. If I would just apply myself.

True story, I was chosen as a student ambassador to the USSR, spent 21 days there negotiating Vodka prices with the Russian "black market".

Interesting that they come up with this study. Even though I believe GWB isn't the sharpest tool in the shed...I do find the study a bit biased to just rely off of transcripts and not to explore other faucets such as knowledge in 2nd language or flying an airplane.

My sincere apology for crossing the line. I thought it was humorous and well inside the bounds of civility compared to the blatant unmasked sexual and obscene comments. I would hope that the guidelines would be non partisan.

i.e.

" Please.

Even a retard knows when his peckers being sucked. "

Posted by AZCards21 this thread 3 posts up. By the way, I wasn't offended by his comment.

That was posted this thread just 3 posts earlier. Comment ?

Here is my comment:

Got any more tattling to do because I can certainly give you another violin?

Frankly I am sick of both sides justifying their lack of self control by pointing to someone else.

Well 142 is genius so I doubt that that many presidents were genius. You dont necessarily make the white house on intelligence. Its charisma and money.

I would bet no more than 1 maybe 2 in the last 50 years were truely genius. As anothe poster said, my IQ as of my senior year was 148. I am not that smart. Genius comes in several way, unfortuanately what I am considered by my peers to be very good at isnt something that makes you popular and rich lol

A person can be in the 90's and be president. Just takes more money. But I doubt the top 5 is very accurate. I also wonder who did the study that has all the republicans (minus 1) at the very bottom lol

EDIT:
George Herbert Walker Bush [R] 98

Look at this guys career. He earned most of what he got. I would imagine Bush sr is far more intelligent than I. Or he had the longest lucky streak in the history of the world. You cant be dumb and the head of the CIA.

Tattling? No , just trying to determine the " Community standard ". I am just confused over why " having his pecker puffed" is allowable and #### is not. The guidelines posted at the beginning of this site, prohibits curse words thinly disguised by a substitute character as in a 4 letter word having one letter added or replaced. I had no idea the "string " , " #### " was thinly disguised.

Not what I expected from a moderator, but it's your arena.

P.S. That phrase, I used, comes from a very popular musical parody played on many venues nationally, where the " #### " is bleeped out. Different communities have different standards.

There really isn't anything substantual there to argue. The writer had an agenda to prove before he started the research, and found ways to make it all work out how he wanted. It's an opinion piece and that's all.

Remember the "Democrats really are smarter" thread? It would appear there is a faction of the community that is in no uncertain terms saying if you vote for Bush you're an idiot. And not just an idiot for disagreeing with them but actually mentally challenged.

I do understand what your are saying, I just don't know if the researchers had an agenda behind their findings (it wasn't done by one person of one specialty)? I don't blame you for denying it legit and I understand it is easy to deny it any validity based only on one's disagreement with it. There is really nothing to prove it means anything other than words on paper.

The idea of Dems being smarter only comes from an education stand point.
It is purely based on achedemic achievements, not a persons IQ. I have known people with far less education than I and I felt them much smarter than myself. So when they say the more education a person has the more likely they are to vote liberal. It is true, but that is not the same as saying Consevatives are dumb.
