I want to go ahead and apologize to 82 for any misunderstanding in the offending thread. It was not ill-intended and I never anticipated that it would be interpreted that way in light of how we all banter back and forth in P&R. I try not to take things personally around here as I realize this is fully a debate forum in which we deal with sometimes explosive issues and this forum is mostly moderated in the way it should be (we have plenty of leeway to say plenty of things).
I disagree in the length of my ban wholeheartedly and I think the moderator over-reacted and did not take into consideration how we conduct ourselves daily around here. Between the age jokes that 40 is subjected to, the "your mother" jokes that Jenna jabs at people and 82's constant condescension and belittling of opinions, I thought my joke was par for the course. I don't want things to change around here except that maybe the mods can lighten up unless it gets heated personal. If 2 posters can't work it out publically or via PM, then close thread, delete threads or ban users.

Thanks for the apology DEI - though none was needed... As I stated in that thread, I did not ask and didn't expect you to be banned. Indeed, I never said a thing about you being banned at all...
You started an entire thread that was aimed at belittling a fellow-member. While I know things get border-line out of hand at times, I have never seen and certainly have never created a thread with the sole purpose of attacking a fellow member. If it was intended to be a joke - well... don't quit your day job...
And as for the emboldened statement above, I comment on posts I don't agree with, just like the many others who post on this board and in this forum. This forum is primarily comprised of people who disagree with my views/opinions, as well as those of 40 and a few others... So naturally, I will largely disagree with the general commentary in this forum, and you will likewise disagree with me. Doesn't mean however that you are right and others are wrong...

I'd say overall 82 is as condescended-to and belittled as he is condescending and belittling, so it all seems to even out over time. But I guess dedicating a thread in his honor was not a good idea. A warning and deleting the thread would have seemed adequate, nevertheless.

i know i poke fun, and i know you can take it, but i honestly don't remember making those types of jabs. i take issue with your comment because i like to think my humor is better than that.
