Official: Syrian fighter network head dead

Published: 10.27.08, 21:29 / Israel News

A US counterterrorism official says US special operations forces killed the head of a Syrian network that funneled foreign fighters, weapons and cash into Iraq.

The raid Sunday targeted the Syrian border home of Abu Ghadiyah, the head of the single most important foreign fighter cell that has bedeviled Iraq since the US invasion in 2003, according to the official. The US government is refusing official comment. (AP)

McCain will try to capitalize on this, but the Irony here is that this is the type of action Obama advocated in the debates while being chastised by McGrump...

Will McCain call this attack 'naiive'?

Unilateral cross-border attacks based on actionable intelligence on high value targets that are central to the fight on terror. Sounds familiar....
