Cuban Missiles Crises?

Suely some posters around here are old enough to recall this.

Before ICBM's came to be. Bombers were the real nuke threat. One that both sides felt could be defeated as planes could be shot down.

This was a hostile country right off our coast WITH WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION who could now wipe out the east coast.

And despite the leftist attempts to white wash his image and the image of all commies of the time. He was "dedicated to the cause" and more than capable of bypassing his Russian overseers and using them.

The Russians wanted them there as a deterent threat to NATO nukes in eastern europe. In the end they were very worried about his forces seizing the missiles.

Those belonged to The Rooskies, and they took them home. Castro got left with an empty cupboard.

AZ-red, that was almost 40 years ago and came about after a failed CIA attempt to kill Castro. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since then.
