Good for him. It's about time somebody stand up to him and stop the madness on the domestic issues. Now I want to see Santorum do the same.

It's been hard to keep focused on such things with so many balls in the air.

Is that by design?!?

Limbaugh and Savage have both attacked Bush on this. He is hiding behind the war on terrorism which is a huge sucess, and thus deflacting all criticism from the issues back home. I tend to agree. It is very likely that He designed it this way.

What do you think?

I agree with you 100% Stefan.

Of course it is on different issues that we disagree on, but he definitely has used the war to further his own domestic agenda...

What is that agenda? I believe it is repaying the favors that got him in office (special interest groups)

It's possible Chris. Some conservatives claim that he is compromising in order to get re- elected, and once he is re-elected he will turn the corner, put an end to outrageous rullings of the Supreme Court, destroy Dem's fillibusters, privatize education and medicare, but I don't buy it for one second.

I think it is possible that he is repaying favors and doing what's best for him, and not his party.

A large number of Conservatives (Including Limbaugh, Savage, Lott, Scalia, etc) are turning against Bush.

Democrats are focusing on the wrong issues, and that's why they will lose. I really believe that another conservative should have challanged Bush earlier.

Only reason Conservatives will vote for Bush is because there is no alternative.

.. and once I get my citizenship, that's what I will be, unless something dramatic happens in the Republican party. I think the only way political parties will respect you is if you are independent.

According to your post above, they will only pander to you to get elected then they will retreat to the extreme of the party (be it left or right) until they need your vote again.

Some people believe that about Bush. Quite frankly, I don't believe he is smart enough to figure that out. I don't believe for one second that he is somehow going to turn into a real decent conservative after he is re- elected.

Another thing is that you don't have to be in the middle or around the middle to be an independent. I am a conservative independent. Somebody else is a liberal independent. If you are a liberal independent, you like Arlan Specter and John McCain than Zell Miller.

As a conservative independent I like Zell Miller, a conservative Democrat or even old Joe Liberman, a moderate than liberal Republicans like Specter.

I think a discussion between Wayward and Stephan would be a good read regarding the above posts.
