This should be the most entertaining of the debates. The seasoned VP Cheney who reports indicate will continue his "attack dog" approach v. the boyish Senator Edwards, still a little wet behind the ears, but a talented speaker.
Any predictions?
Let's get it on!!

Should be interesting. I have not seen either debate much before, so not sure what to expect. Cheney is definately experienced, and Edwards, with his Trial Lawyer background should do well also.
Cheney has to try not to come across as a grumpy old man like at the convention, or an angry little man, like his boss last week. Look for a few warm fuzzies, some smiles from Cheney, mixed in with his scathing attacks.
Edwards picks away at Cheney, like a trial lawyer. Cheney loses his cool. Cheney let's loose with an " F " bomb
" CNN) -- Vice President Dick Cheney has said he didn't regret cursing at Sen. Patrick Leahy earlier this week, and said he felt better after the incident."

I can just see Cheney cursing like a....Kerry.

I hate Cheney but dont expect a veteran of this caliber to be beaten. I mean if Wally made was the best speaker ever some youngin isnt going to come in a blow him away. Best you can hope for is to hold your ground.

Cheney most certainly wont be beaten.
I see a repeat of of the Benson/Quayle an older polished veteran making the young wet behind the ears one look rather silly at times.
Cheney will teach Edwards a thing or two IMO!

One major difference between Quayle and Edwards is Edwards trial lawyer experience. Edwards made his living speaking to/convincing juries on his cases, so should fare better that Quayle.
When Cheney debated Leiberman in 2000, it was a very civilized and substansive debate with both sides scoring major points. I'm not sure how Cheney will handle this debate as I'm sure he won't have the respect for Edwards that he has for Lieberman.
Edwards main problem is his lack of experience in foreign affairs and if they get into Iraq, I think Cheney will really take advantage of that weakness.
Supposedly, one of the issues Edwards will push is Cheney's connection to Halliburton. That should be interesting to watch.

Yeah, and Edwards once won a trial by convincing the jury he was channeling the dead fetus' spirit, or some such bull crap as that Don't think his courtroom theatrics will work quite the same way during the debate.

Thank you for breaking the circle of suck, Bidwill--Stout, December 7 2008.
Are the rules and format of this debate similar to Thursday's debate? If so, I don't think it will be as ugly is some expect. Thursday's debate was more segmented speeches than a debate, and the "the president said/my opponent said" lines didn't always refer to comments made that night.
That being said, I liked Thursday's debate. I'm not much interested in seeing the kind of semantics we see on the message boards. If anything, it was nice to see each candidate speak without the (frankly) embarrassing crowd of automatons.
I'm picturing the end of A Few Good Men where Edwards continually gets into Cheney to the point that Cheney EXPLODES ala Nicholson and basically brings down the entire administration with his version of YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!
A boy can dream can't he? Personally - I think this will be the most interesting of all the debates because it's actually between two people who have brains - as opposed to the Kerry vs. the trained Chimp debate.
