Screw this occupation crap. A democracy can't do it because we are to worried about human rights of the defeated.
Exactly, it's not like we lack the firepower, let's face it we suck at occupations because most of the time we are the good guys. There is nothing wrong with being the good guys, it just means there are certain things we can't do and occupying a pit hole for dubious reasons is one.

Now if you want to go all ape on them, kill their families after torturing them, make them watch you torture their children to death then we might get somewhere shortly.

What are some of your plans concerning the Afganistan occupation?

How is it a distraction? It is fact. Until you have the all the resources available how can you judge?

Sure, when the surge was announced, give it 6 months....FROM THE TIME THE SURGE IS FULLY RESOURSED AND IMPLEMENTED. It has been fully resourced for about a month, maybe.

As far as results, even with the limited resources, we have seen some limited results and it is summertime.

Give the strategy time, with all the resources and then, if no progress then pull the plug. And, if there is progress, leave it alone.

Actually yer framing those comments is fairly misleading. The 6 month time frame was in reference to after the buildup of troops were in place - which leads to an end date of September.

Gotta be careful when you get loose with the facts. During WWII the "surge" in Normandy took 3 months to build up the forces with an estimate of 3 months to take key parts of Europe.

With the type of analysis yer tossing around the Allies would have packed up and gone back to England a month into the invasion.
