The one photo the GOP does not want anyone to see was snapped at yesterday's NAACP GOP Presidential Candidate Forum. The NAACP invited all 9 Republican candidates to the forum, but only one showed up: Tom Tancredo. All the Democratic Presidential hopefuls showed up for their forum.
The excuses given by the Republican campaigns mostly had to do with scheduling conflicts--just too busy to make it.
The resulting photo of Tancredo--standing on a stage of empty podiums--sums up the Republican party's commitment to civil rights in America: the only Republican interested is the guy running to deny immigrant workers their rights.
One has to wonder why this photo was not the lead on every morning show and on the front pages of every morning newspaper in America.
The reason, most likely, is a coordinated effort by Republicans to pressure news agencies to downplay the obvious implications of having 8 out of 9 of their Presidential candidates as "no shows" for a debate at the NAACP.
What is keeping the obvious story about Republicans and racism out of today's headlines? David Beckham's arrival in Hollywood.
This is an ideal moment to stand up and demand the kind of news coverage we want in America. Contact your local TV stations and newspapers. Ask them to run this photo and to write an article about Republicans, civil rights and racism.
:shakeshead:

Ok, I'm going to call a pre-emptive BS on this one. Just like Kerry's dining along photo, there has to be more to the story.
IF it went down like this blogger says it would be (should be) enormous news, and the media doesn't let low hanging potshot fruit go by without throwing in their two cents, no matter the party.

Seems accurate...

Up to nine presidential candidates will take the stage at Cobo Center on Thursday morning to woo the African-American vote. At most, there will be one Republican.
It's not for lack of an invitation. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People extended invitations to all announced Republican and Democratic candidates two months ago. The national staff of the civil rights organization followed up with phone calls.
But the three leading Republican candidates -- U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor and a Michigan native -- have all said they won't come, citing scheduling conflicts.
The eight announced Democrats -- U.S. Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Barack Obama of Illinois, Christopher Dodd of Connecticut and Joe Biden of Delaware, former U.S. Sens. John Edwards of North Carolina and Mike Gravel of Alaska, New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio -- accepted the invitation.
Among Republicans, U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo of Colorado may come.
"If we're allowed to come, we want to be there," said Alan Moore, spokesman for Tancredo. They wanted more details on the format and timing of the program.
NAACP officials haven't released specifics about the presidential forum.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Republican, said he left a message with the NAACP last month, saying he would be campaigning in Iowa.
"We're extremely disappointed that we haven't had any response or confirmations from the rest of the Republicans," said Richard McIntire, national spokesman for the organization. "We're the oldest and largest civil rights organization in the country and our members will remember this."
Giuliani plans to be in Novi on Thursday evening, raising money for the Michigan Republican Party and the Republican caucus of the state House of Representatives at a $1,000-per-person dinner. But campaign officials said he's not flying into Michigan until Thursday afternoon.
Campaign officials for Romney said he has other commitments, although he has no public appearances scheduled.
So eight demos and one repub show up. Tancredo takes the stage before the demos and someone takes a picture?
Yeah, I don't know how that worked... The Elephants that were not in the room, had informed them that could not attand so there would really be no point in having the podiums there just to show them empty...
