If you are trying to paint me as an anti war [aka unpatriotic] activist you are way off target. Heck I was even stupid enough to believe GW when he said Iraw had WMD and I supported his invasion of Iraq.

Well put John and hopefully this will work to our advantage. It's like having a black sheep in your family. You don't want to disown him, but you don't want to go down the drain with him. Believe me, there are a number of Arab countries breathing a sigh of relief now that Saddam is no longer a threat.

Like Jon said, some of us can think for ourselves. Afganistan was justified, Iraq was not, both were mishandled. Notably Afganistan was mishandled because the troops were redirected to Iraq rather than finishing the job
nidan, I don't know how Iraq got in the picture. That cartoon was in response to the Lebanon/Israeli war and I think it was very pertinent to what is happening.

I asked the question because the cartoon was referring to the media and the Israeli/Hezbollah war not Iraq. I just wanted to know whether you thought Israel's actions were justified or not.

Jon, your answer is the exact reason why the majority of Americans don't trust liberals/democrats when it comes to National Defense and Terrorism.

Let's say that United States was attacked from a neighboring country by a terrorist group. This terrorist group's ultimate goal was to erase us from the face of the Earth and was allowed to run rampant inside of this neighboring country. To think that our leaders would not react forcefully and overwhelmingly in fear of other countries feeling that we over-reacted is scary.

(EDIT) Sorry for spelling your name wrong. No "h". I fixed it though.

No problem. I imagine the cartoonists had thoughts of Iraq when he was drawing it as well.

folster - Americans have had a low opinion of the democrats on National Defense because people think you have to be a macho man all the time - and that is WRONG.

Even many of Israel's biggest supporters think they over-reacted. The problems in South Lebanon have been building for years, and some military swaggering is not going to change anything.

That's exactly right Jon. Acting and talking tough does not equal strength. Acting and talking tough is a sign of weakness IMO, it is done in an attempt to cover up ones fears and weaknesses.

Now back to the theme of the thread!
