So, if I write about my early life in the 1970s it will not be accurate?

And it's funny how four accounts of his life by four different people can all be wrong.
I think one of the reasons there are four accounts is so that the stories could be substantiated...yet some just throw them all out, ignoring that they were actually written by guys who followed him.

Matthew is believed to be written around 50 AD since it does not mention the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
Mark is also believed to have been written somewhere around 50-67 AD.
Luke seems to have been written around 60 AD as it was written before ACTS.
John, because of some verses discovered that point to an earlier date than first thought is placed somewhere in the early 80s AD.
Jesus died around 33 AD. Therefore only 20-50 year range after the death of Jesus, by eyewitnesses of Jesus' acts the gospels were written.

But didn't dating techiniques give a different date? Maybe I'm thinking of something else....

To my knowledge carbon dating or any other technique was not used on those sources as the material that was found to have the writting was period specific.
Also, other things were used to date those writtings. Such as the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Since Jerusalem was such a big deal to the Jews and Christians if it already happened you would think a Jew writting about the Son of God would mention it.

Just for Krang, from the Bible...
Matthew 3:16-17
"16) After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and (32) he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him,
17 ) and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "(33) This is [2] My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."
There you go, God in fact is the one who said that Jesus was his son...and I'd take his word for it

And Matthew, who wrote this and would know if this is the truth or not died because of his belief that Jesus was the Son of God. One would think, if Matthew wasn't 100% sure of who Jesus was he would not have given his life for this belief.

You are absolutely right. I just did some research last night, and I was about to post it here, but you covered it pretty well.
As great William Albright said,
Every book of the Old Testament was written by a baptized Jew between the forties and the eighties of the first century.

This is the single most outrageous statement you've ever made.
Matthew and John were his disciples. John was the "disciple Jesus loved." Mark was Peter's secratary, (Peter was one of the three disciples who were closest to Christ, the other two being John and James.) Luke was a doctor who traveled with Paul.
If anybody knew Jesus, it was these guys.

I'm sorry to tell you this Shawn, but this has now been beaten to death.
I'm dropping out completely. I've spent entirely too much time on this, and nothing has changed.
I enjoy debating, but with issues of faith there is no right or wrong (which could also be applied to politics as well).
Thanks for the discussion guys!

But the problem is - as I see it - that it's been approached in the wrong way.
I propose to approach it in a way that you may have not thought of. I think you should at least read what I have written in a little while.

It was absolutely awesome - we loved it. I've never been anywhere so amazingly green. I'm looking forward to taking another trip back to that part of the country.
Thanks for asking.

I'll definitely listen....I try to be as openminded as possible.
But I have to admit that this thread has confused me even more spiritually. I believe in God less now, than when this thread was started.
