I have to laugh at all this anti-President stuff...
Any intelligent American knows that most of the policies of this country begin and end in one place--Congress. You wanna complain, do it about the House and Senate--that's where government really happens.

That you know of. You are deluded if you think there is any real moral difference from one politician to another.
The only difference between Clinton, Nixon, and every other president is that they got caught.
Or in the case of Ronald Regan, they lied better than others.
BTW, Ronald Regan was one of the greatest presidents of our time. He was bulletproof, but he was anything but honest.

Actually let me change that
Bush has had his way with one woman...
Mother Earth.
Wanna know what the very first act the President did?
He signed a Republican sponsored bill that took away the requirement for Logging Companies to plant new trees after they cut them down.
Part of this bill was also that the Government would pay to pave and clear the roads for the logging companies to get to new trees. That's right, a portion of our tax dollars goes to help logging companies needlessly cut down our national forests and NOT replenish them.
Want to guess what one of the largest campaign contributors to the Bush campaign fund? You guessed it!

Chris_Sanders, again you sit there and complain about only one side. Clinton's democrats were actuallu investigated for their compaign contributions. Republicans and Democrats -- they are the same.
Clinton's lack of morals is well documented. So are many others' -- LBJ's, Kennedy's -- just to name a few. One's morality is of the heart and conscience, not of the politcal letter that follows your name. Understanding that, I cannot say anything against the present morals of GWBush at this time. I know in his youth his morals were questionable to say the least, but presently what great act of immorality has he done to bring doubt? Just being a politician is not evidence of lacking morals.
The Alaskan Anwar is not yet opened to drilling. I know Bush would like it to be. I know many Alaskans want it. Frankly, I can't stand those tree huggers either.

Very true Chaplin.
And unfortunately, the House leadership on both sides makes my hair stand on end.
Pelosi is too liberal, and DeLay (the real speaker - Hassert is a puppet) is too much of a right-wing wacko.

Yeah I complain about one side
Hey Stong Bad...
Reading is FUN-damental.
Let me quote my own post for you:
"You are deluded if you think there is any real moral difference from one politician to another."
You point out Clinton, I point out Bush.
Morally, one is no better than the other. It all depends on what you value. Personally, I could care less that the President bagged some fat intern. I could care less when a Republican senator does it. I could care less that the Arizona Govener probably munches carpet.
I don't live my life vicariously through the sexual exploits of others. I find soap operas, american idol, the bachelor, and survivor to be idiotic. If you watch them, please wipe the drool from your chin.
What I do care about is domestic policy and foreign policy.
If you ask me my opinion on Bush, I give him a C.
Has handled September 11th admirably.
Has handled the Iraq situation well.
Is not very good domestically.
Sucks environmentally.
Oh and as a avid hiker, I appreciate those trees. Someday I hope to have a son that can appreciate them as well.
You don't have to be a "tree hugger" to care about the environment...
Just like you don't have to be a small penised right wing fanatic to like W.

Pretty unfair generalization...don't care if you don't like those shows, but to say everyone who watches them is just to gawk is pretty lame.

Sorry Mike
But that is my opinion.
It may be a little harsh, but I firmly believe reality shows are nothing more than a freeway gawkers block in your very own home.
Nothing illustrates this more than the newest one coming out that features a bunch of hillbillies moved to Beverly Hills.
I don't think laughing at other's expense is especially funny.

Now let's not hijack a perfectly good thread to pee over reality TV
I normally don't laugh at another's expense, unless they ask to be. Anyone who goes on one of the shows knows full well that regardless of what he/she does, someone will riducule them.

Fair enough on all points. =)
I take back the mean things I said about Survivor.
I won't take it back about the Bachelor though. You can't make me!

Well, drool is different that wanting to gawk and laugh at people's expense.
Either way, if we can't laugh at ourselves, then what's the point? If people want to go on those shows, then why can't I laugh at them?
You're taking life too seriously if you can't. Sure, some of it is really disgusting trash, like "Who's Hot"...I didn't watch that show....just seemed stupid, the premise.
Survivor really isn't about that anyways, and Idol may have started out like that, but you want the final 10+ episodes to see who the best singer is...that's not laughing at people's misfortunes.
I laugh at myself for doing stupid stuff, and I don't care if other people laugh at me either.

What other purpose for those shows is there? If you can name me one redeeming social quality of those shows (and I dont accept entertainment, because entertainment at the expense of others, wittingly or unwittingly, is exploitation) I'd back of my sentiment on this issue, but to me, "reality" TV is the most disgusting entertainment invention, possibly ever.

I watch Survivor for entertainment, but also it's a pretty neat study in group dynamics and how people work together when thrown into a situation.
Sure, you laugh at some things they do, but you also learn things. I definitely do not watch that show to get a laugh out of it.
I agree, shows like the Bachelor, Who's Hot, are disgusting. But I don't think ALL of them should be lumped into ONE category.

Like I said
Fair Enough.
Survivor shall be exempt...but the others shall still be derided!
