Everyone I know got LESS back in taxes than in years past.
We are all married, have kids and own houses.
Tax cut for the rich, paid for by tax increase on the Middle Class.
Yeah, that right, my taxes increased!
Anyone that votes for Bush is......
The problem is most of you religious right think if a non "Christian" is elected, the Country will outlaw God and everyone will be Gay, and if not we'll give each other abortions for fun. Otherwise, we'll burn the flag and turn you and your kids Gay.
But you all believe in a tax cut. Well, there was no tax cut. It was a tax increase. We have accountants. You are talking about people in the 50,000 to 60,000 bracket.
The accountants tell us that our wives shouldn't work, or claim to be married. It makes you pay more. What do they call it? The return to values and house wives.
And before you respond Stephan, don't. This thread if for Americans. No immigrant Child should be so respected.

I'll take the trickle down the tip of Clinton's member over this.
Last year the top 20% American households paid 80% of the tax burden and that didn't change. If you make over a combine 120,000 you are going to get bent over the barrel every year.
I haven't seen anything about a tax hike for certain income brackets if there was it would be trumpted from mountaintops by every Bush-hater alive.

Cardinal Mike!!
Sorry bro, don't make over the $120,000.
Got bent over anyway.... Saw no tax break what so ever, in fact we saw an increase.... In fact a big increase, as was predicted. Every person I know is in my bracket and we ALL experienced the SAME thing!
So your over 120,000 is b.s. you read somewhere. Reductions for the very poor, reductions for the very rich, increase for the middle class.

If you actually spend more than two seconds worrying about taxes then you simply aren't being responsible with your own money. If you're to the point that you count on getting a big refund it's obvious that you're not handling your funds correctly in the first place.

I thought you wanted a serious discussion not to just name call and cry about how poor and downtrodden you are. First I was sympathetic to your plight, now I find it funny and fitting.

Exactly, the smartest thing to do is to have as little taken out of your monthly salary as possible. Put the money you would have taken out for taxes into an interest baring account, ie savings, and don't touch it till it's time to file for taxes. Then you take what you owe out of that account and whatever is left is the money you made instead of the government on interest.
Sounds easy, the only hardpart is not touching that sum over the course of the year.

What happens when you owe a large amount of taxes due to under withholding? You the are required by the IRS to pay taxes quarterly.
If you know what your income will be you'd have to be a moron to under withhold by so much as to require quarterly taxes.
Point is: If you get a big refund each year you're not doing things correctly. You're just giving the government your money and getting some of it back. The less you give them, the more you have during the year and you can make the money work for you.
Problem is most people that complain about their taxes are suffering from their own mishandling of their own finances, like huge credit card debt, second mortgages, huge car loans, etc. and that is how they come to depend on a big tax refund.

I think you're being a little harsh, I don't think that CardinalMike was being a moron.
But when he says "have as little taken out of your monthly salary as possible", I think he just doesn't fully inderstand what he's saying.
You, in fact are correct. I'm tcked if I owe more than $250 or get a refund of more than $250.
