Suprised no one picked up on this

Little article in Newsweek about this kid who is part of a new Democrat think tank. Anyway, the kid found an article from Australia that was an interview with Colin Powell from TWO years ago.

In this interview Powell says that "Iraq poses no threat to any of it's neighboring nations nor to any other country." Also, he states that Iraq has NO WMDs.

Powell gets called on this by reporters and he says "Well...we were a younger administration when I said that.

Yeah, and John Kerry and Bob Graham said he had WMD's in 1998, and now they claim that he didn't. I'd have to see exactly what he said two years ago, and what he said in his defense.

I'll bet the kid took something out of context.

That's why I wouldn't vote for Kerry or Graham.

They bought into the lies.

Tom, I know you want this administration to be wrong, but the intelligence they had was consistant from Bush, throught Clinton, all the way to W. Bush.

I don't know how good the intelligence was, but for almost 15 years, it's been consistant, and accepted by the Republicans the the Democrats alike.

We are not talking about Bush's lies here, there are no Bush's lies, we are talking about the quality of our intelligence. That is the real point. Was intelligence terrible or was is good?

That's definitely a good point. I honestly believe our intelligence was terrible, and that's being corroborated by our lack of success in finding any WMDs.

Clinton bought into it as well, so you are 100% correct. I'm starting to realize that the admin. might not be a culpable for this situation as I originally belived.

The U.N. weapons inspector interviewed on 60 Minutes II said that he had not seen one instance where our intelligence was right or helped them. That's definitely alarming.

I think they are exagarating (sp). I mean, I do believe that our intelligence is not very good, but they are not that terrible.

I do think our intelligence needs some improving. I do believe Saddam was trying to makie WMD's, but I think we gave him too much credit.

Anyways, my point is that the administration has to follow the intelligence, and if intelligence is not correct, than we need to blame those who deserve to be blamed- mainly CIA.

True, this has proven that our CIA can't be relied upon.

Stefan,

Newsweek specifically pointed out that this IS what Powell said. And we are talking just two years ago from now, which was just after September 11th. He didn't even refute it. He just stammered out a lame answer.

One of these days you are going to wake up and say "God, these people have been lying to me my whole life."

I know I did.
