Stupid spy tricks
Today on KJZZ radio the news announcer reported,
"The trial of former Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station engineer, Mohammad Alavi, 49, charged in 2007 with violating federal export restriction on sensitive materials, began in Phoenix today. Alavi is accused of illegally downloading software about the plant's operation and taking it with him to Iran. He also downloaded the codes needed to open and use the software.
"Alavi's attorneys say he didn't know he was violating federal export laws. His attorney said that after working 17 years at Palo Verde, Alavi was proud of his work and wanted to bring home a souvenir to show his family...."
....(10-15 seconds of absolutely dead silence)...
"cough, cough (squeaky, strained voice) I'm sorry (giggle) ... I seem (snicker) to have temporarily lost it... er, my voice."
The report itself totally cracked me up -- and the announcer made it even funnier.
