After listing Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio as one of the top Italian-American crime fighters in the last century, the Washington-based advocacy group has now disavowed him.
Dona De Sanctis, deputy executive director of the Order Sons of Italy in America, cited controversy over allegations of people dying or being seriously injured while being held in Arpaio's jails.
Lawsuits filed against Arpaio's office have cost the county more than $13 million, many of the cases involving similar allegations of excessive force causing injuries and death.
It's good to see that more people/groups are coming to their senses.
Sheriff Joe is a human rights violator. He created a culture of violence and abuse against the inmates, just to be reelected.

Sheriff Joe runs one of the most oppressive, most violent, and most costly jails in America.
He commissioned a study by ASU to show the people that he saved money. When the study was finished, they showed him the results, and he was not pleased. It proved that Joe, even with all of his costcutting measures, ending up costing the state money every year.
He is the only Sheriff in America that employs a PR guy.
