Whatever your personal views on Bill O'Reilly are (depending on your political slant, he could be a quack too of course) he brought this up on his show last night. If you haven't seen O'Reilly's show, he does a commentary with his personal views on something to start the show.
The reason why I bring this up, is because O'Reilly is catholic, and he openly lambasted the Pope for his views on this topic. He was brutal about it - how the Pope was against acting against Milosovic after he was engaging in ethnic cleansing, and how the Pope is against removing Saddam and his actions for the past 20+ years. O'Reilly even went as far as to blame the Pope for his inactions in the sexual abuse scandal facing the church.
I catch him every once in a while. Usually I just take what these guys say with a grain of salt because I know that their ratings are directly proportional to the audacity of their comments (see Rush Limbaugh's "Sorry, but the Earth is not fragile" chapter in his book). Note: What do you expect when you get your environmental information from the coal industry! DOH!!

Like I said, I think he is usually over the top, which is for ratings and entertainment value, just like you said. But on occasion, you catch a view on something that fits.
O'Reilly is a catholic, and I think it lended a little bit to his argument.
Off topic, but did anyone catch Lawrence Eagleburger on Hannity and Colmes Monday night?
