I am a simple tech school grad and part time community college student, so all i can handle is the King James English version.
The bible can't be proven wrong, neither could my assertions of alien abduction.
First of all, there are no contradictions in the Bible. Even letters, speeches or any form of communication today when translated into another current language does not always have the same meaning conveyed. So when you take a dead language such as 2000 year old Greek and translate it into today's modern english there will be a lot of meaning distorted and even lost. That's why, in order to get a more accurate understanding of the scriptures it is best to go back to the original languages of the scriptures.

I do not know how to read ancient greek or hebrew. I have books that help me with that part of my study.

Is there anything about your alien abductions that can be proven? No. Is there anything about the Bible that can be proven? Yes, quite a lot actually. So, with so much of the Bible actually being proven to be accurate, unlike those alien abductions it is not with a blind faith that one beliefs the rest to also be accurate.

I'm glad it works for you

... but i find the bible a load of gibberish, a relic of a time of ignorance. We now have some pretty strong theories about how nature works, the earth was formed and the basic nature of the universe, back to .0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000043 sec.
after the big bang. Before that, science does not penetrate, and theologians and philosophers may frolic to their heart's content.
As far as ethics and morals, "strive to survive causing least suffering possible", "do unto others..." "don't mess w/ another man's woman/property" etc... are just common sense to me.
I believe in anyone's right to BELIEVE what they will. I have a beef with all organized religions. I'm pretty pissed at radical Islam now, and I've always been opposed to the attempted takeover of the US by radical Christians.
The Andikrist loves the world, and all the people in it (except maybe Raider fans

The people who claim there are contradictions in scripture pick and pluck verses out of context from an english translation. Take the english word love for example. We have just the one word, but New Testament Greek had three different words with three different meanings ... yet we use the one word love for all three meanings.
Actually CT - the NT Greek has 4 words for love not 3. Just an observation though. I'm going to do my best to not get dragged into another one of these debates. Ugh...

Key word being theories and not inconclusive, undesputable proofs.

science and religion

science uses a method of theory, observation and experimentation. Religion deals in surety and doctrine. In the past, religion insisted the earth was the center of the universe. Any who disagreed were liable to have a "hot " time. Religion insisted (and some folks still do) that the earth was a few thousand years old.
Only religion is arrogant enough to to insist ancient verbal history is "indisputable fact"

Thank you.

As I am quickly glancing through my Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testamanet Words I do not see any mention of 2. storge. It clearly and thoiroughtly speaks of agape and phileo, I am aware of eros but I see no mention what-so-ever of storge. Help me out and give me some references and books please.

Well - I'm thinking in the Greek language entirely - not the Greek just used in the Bible. You'll be very hard pressed to find "Agape" outside of the NT Greek Bible - in normal Greek literature. While the other three are much more prevelant.

Considering I am not married should I have? Is that not God's plan? Is there something wrong with God's plan? Shocked this came from someone claiming to be a christian.
