Holy mackerel. For that kind of money, I would be tempted to spew his hate, but then again, I have a bit more ethics and scruples than him.

Clear Channel, Limbaugh
Ink $400 Million New Contract
By SARAH MCBRIDE
July 3, 2008; Page B1
Conservative ( HATE ) radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh Wednesday inked an eight-year contract for around $400 million, underscoring how ( corporate controlled )radio is spending big sums on bankable talent to compete in the crowded entertainment ( propaganda )field.
Mr. Limbaugh's compensation of $38 million a year, plus a signing bonus of about $100 million is less in absolute terms than the five-year, $500 million contract Howard Stern cut in 2004 with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. But Mr. Limbaugh's contract could net him more, as Mr. Stern must pay costs for his cast and production.
It's a big jump from Mr. Limbaugh's last contract, which at $285 million was a record for a radio ( anal orifice ) personality when he signed it in 2001. Since then, the weekly audience ( clones, drones ) for his three-hour midday show has held steady at about 20 million listeners, according to his syndicator, Clear Channel Communications Inc.'s Premiere Radio Networks. But advertisers ( money grubbing corporate weasels ) are increasingly anxious to reach ( massage ) that audience.
Mr. Limbaugh's show ( scam ) is the nation's most-listened-to, followed by fellow conservative ( scumbag ) Sean Hannity's show, distributed by ABC Radio Networks, a division of Citadel Broadcasting Corp. Premiere is in advanced talks with Mr. Hannity to try to woo him away for a sum in the $200 million range over eight years, a person familiar with the situation said. Representatives for Mr. Hannity didn't respond to requests for comment. A spokeswoman for Premiere declined to comment.
On Wednesday's show, Mr. Limbaugh, 57 years old, said he was "ecstatic" ( giddy as a school girl and blown out on oxycontin )about the deal.
As radio fights for market share in a fragmented entertainment market, its national stars ( puppets ) are becoming increasingly valuable ( malleable ). Ryan Seacrest, whose radio shows are also syndicated by Premiere, recently made a deal where he owns and controls a portion of the advertising on one of his shows.
Radio reaches about 93% of the population ( lemmings ) each week, according to Arbitron Inc., with listeners tuning in ( zombied in ) an average of about 18.5 hours. That is a decline from just over 22 hours per week 10 years ago. Radio advertising, including on radio Internet sites, totaled $21.3 billion last year, down from $21.7 billion the year before.
Mr. Limbaugh's fans ( moronic sycophants)are fiercely loyal ( addicted ) to the host ( ringleader ) and very responsive ( predictable ) to his show's advertisers, media buyers say. "He is a proven commodity ( anal orifice )," says Mark Lefkowitz, executive vice president and media director at Furman Roth Advertising Inc.
Mr. Limbaugh's show also delivers revenue ( blood money ) through ancillary businesses ( scams ) such as his "24/7" club that costs about $60 a year. Those businesses have grown substantially, a person ( lapdog )familiar with the show said. For example, "24/7" members can watch video of the show live online and tap into ( I V drip ) a growing number of Internet-based frills.

Am I the only one amused by Wally castigating Limbaugh for spewing hate by spewing it himself?
We shall see. I amused myself, and that is all that counts. If you didn't see any humor, it wasn't meant for you, or I suck at it. If only I had as much influence as Rush, you might have to worry, but I only exist for your amusement or lack of it.

I don't get the fascination with Rush from those who claim to "hate" him?? Is it jealousy? Is it displaced frustration?? Is it a feeling of inadequacy that stems from seeing a mediocre at best human being make gazillions of dollars??
Strange... I say - gotta love America baby!!! Rush inks a $400 million contract? Beautiful.... There's hope for us all!!!
The guy is just spewing what his audience wants to hear and getting paid big time. No different than any other partisan hack. Doesn't matter if you are a blogger, pundit, or on a message board..they are all the same. Great payday but who really cares? His raise is going to go on Cohibas, vicodin & Viagra anyway.

On his radio show Wednesday, Rush Limbaugh commented on the news of his astronomical new contract estimated at $400 million. Limbaugh told his audience, "I'm not retiring until every American agrees with me." The deal pays Limbaugh to keep dishing his views through 2016.
Our corporatocracy continues the brainwashing of america. This is the "freedom" that our politicians claim we're fighting for.
Huh??? I might be missing something but in the America I live in, everyone is free to pursue whatever career they choose, as well as recveive whatever value (compensation) the markets agree to pay...
Additionally, if I don't want to listen to the blow-hard, I tune him out... You should try the same as in America, you do still have that right.

Wow. I'm not sure I would care if anyone on earth agreed with me if I had just earned $400 million.
