Air America host Randi Rhodes called both Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton "whores" in a recent appearance, seen below. Rhodes, who hosts a weekday radio show on Air America, said to the cheering crowd, "What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She's such a ****ing whore!" She then proceeded to say, "Hillary is a big ****ing whore, too" to a mixed audience reaction. "You know why she's a big ****ing whore? Because her deal is always, 'Read the fine print, asshole!'"
Update: Rhodes has been now been suspended from the network. Air America released the following statement:
Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Senator Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.
"Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our Hosts," said chair Charlie Kireker.

Randi has always been a card carrying member of the lunatic fringe., but in spite of my feeling , I wish the moral police would stay out of the public arena and the airwaves. These people live and die by ratings. That should be the yardstick for acceptable behavior.
In lieu of the fact that Air America is in the middle of another financial collapse, I wouldn't discount this event as nothing more than a publicity stunt.

No wonder Air America is heading into financial troubles with people representing the station like that. Talk about eating your own. Verbage like that makes me wonder why that radio station hasn't been successful. I used to respect her from watching & Listening to her appearances on Washington Journal (C-Span). No more...she lost my respect. Video footage like that makes people like Rush look respectful to others. God, it hurts me to even say that but she has no excuse. I'm glad she has been reprimanded.

No, Rush has said just as bad if not worse. Jughead is right... Just like when Rush or whomever says it about the left, his listeners don't care. It's not going to hurt the bottom line. The same is true for Rhodes, when she says this type of stuff about the right, her listeners don't care. It's that she said this about a big name from the left that is the difference.
Air America is failing because there's not an audience (at least not significant) for this type of radio on the left like there is on the right. Just look the number of radio and television hosts who strictly push a conservative position (or a position they want conservatives to have) on every issue. Now look at the number of liberals in the same positions. If there was an audience for it, there would be far more liberal shows and radio hosts, there isn't.

Can't argue your point about the radio market but Randi's statements were vulgar and direct. I saw the clip and I saw no humor in what she said. They were not jokes but a vicious attack while representing Air America. I know Blue comedy when i see it...that wasn't it.
