Maybe he could have been less insulting, I think it's funny though because I'm tired of it.
One of the biggest hits on the internet yesterday was some video of an opera singer who was on the British version of Idol, Simon everyone loved the guy, cell phone salesman turned star.
Turns out the guy has done opera before, isn't particularly great and the whole thing was a lie basically but oh people thought it was so inspiring.

Back in the day the inflation rate would have been reported at 7% because that's the real friggen rate.
NOW it's the CORE rate, so if you don't eat or drive you're peachy.

82 I have zero desire to set you straight, since you're the man yourself, someone such as yourself does not need any information from me, however when IMO you restate the postion of the government in a thread talking about how it's mistating basic facts, then I'm not going to let that just go.

Also 82 as an American who only wants what's right for this country, maybe it differs from what you want and that's our rights by the way. I'm personally offended by your labeling me as Anti American and I ask you to stop it.
I'm anti American leadership because I disagree with how it's being done, which is my right, but I ask you in the interest of fairness to leave alone the concept of my patriotisim and further attacks will stop or should be done in PM's because frankly it's against the rules here.

First off I think Seven's take on American's and Gore is false. Gore won the popular vote. So obviously the majority of Americans were able to understand, agree with, and want put into play, Gore's plans. If it wasn't for "hanging chad's" we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.
I don't think Gore was ever considered fringe or wacky. In fact the only people who have thrown themselves into the race for President in recent memory who have been consider "fringe or wacky" are people along the lines of Nader and Sharpton. The people who stand up and take a stand against the status quo are becoming very popular IE: Obama.
If you talk to people (and I mean actually talk to them not try and tell them how they should think) in this country the vast majority want to know what's going on. American's want to know what their government is doing and how the Gov. plans on fixing the problems. Even if it has to be explained to them in laymans terms people still want an explanation.
And yes ignorance is bliss, but this country is far from sticking our heads in the sand.

Yes, I'm consistent. I wake up each day and THANK GOD that I live in the greatest country on the planet. You see those words and immediately assume I can only feel that way by virtue of my head being firmly stuck in the sand... Of course, you couldn't be more wrong.
I see all that you see. I see this great country and know that there are major issues, huge problems. Dangers that can bring about severe pain...
And there are plenty of you guys out there who predict the worst. And while I'm certain that if I asked you how this is any different than other periods in our history where our great country faced seemingly catastrophic conditions, you would illustrate at great length just how todays perils are significantly more dangerous, more threatening and more catastrophic. I get that... Don't agree with it... I simply choose to roll in a different direction. Just like so many others who, during the darkest moments of this country, remained fully informed, yet strong, positive/optimistic, and thankful.

That's as good a take on it as any, some of the posters who throw out the ignorant label, myself included are just frustrated with the process which IMO is a lot about what you are talking about.
Gore wins the popular vote but loses the election, they elect Dems to largely stop the war and it goes on, etc.
The whole process is setup to avoid us having a say to the extent it's possible for people to do that, really GWB is breaking new ground on just ignoring the people IMO and it's frustrating plus IMO it's a bad precedent to set to let him get away with it.
He won two elections, I suspect he would not win another but we don't get that chance so here we sit hoping the next one will start fixing things.
