So, there's no reason to let France or Germany, two allies for fifty-plus years, give any input to our foreign policy. But, you know, China, lobbing misslies over our friends in Taiwan and cutailing democracy in Hong Kong, they must have a say in our security arrrangements with a nuclear power.

lol...I thought france and germany were in europe (HuMoR) ...why would countries in asia want them involved in the negotiations?

I don't know. But I'm glad we decided not to get involved with them when we found out that Iran was seeking nuclear weapons. Well, we were involved, just in discouraging them from talking to Iran.
You just have to love the President's "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" policy on nuclear proliferation. You know, it's his #1 security priority.
Should be interesting to see what develops out of Iran and N. Korea....
__________________________________________________ _ U.S. election renews focus on 6-way talks
November 05, 2004 ㅡ South Korean academics and political analysts said yesterday the re-election of President George Bush means that an administration with a reputation for trying to solve international problems unilaterally will continue to pursue multilateral diplomacy in the effort to end the North Korean nuclear crisis.
The analysts agreed that how the six-party negotiations, involving China, Russia, Japan, the United States and the two Koreas, develop would also shape the inter-Korean relationship.
"From a strategic point of view, U.S. priorities lie with Iraq," said Chun Bong-geun, director of the Institute for Peace and Cooperation. "Then you have the Iran nuclear problem around the corner. With the six-party talks the United States has a system in place to deal with the North Korean problem." He said it would be hard for Washington to walk away from the negotiations and simply take a hard-line stance.
Han Tae-gyu, director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security, said, "The United States has to consider other nations involved in the six-party talks such as China and Russia. If everything fails, then Washington might opt for drastic measures, but until then, the six-party talks will serve as the main vehicle to solve the crisis."
Yet, some strategists said they thought that time was running out for North Korean leaders.
"If there is no real progress in the talks by the first half of next year, there is a possibility that the United States will take a tougher approach," said Kim Tae-hyo, a professor also at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security.
On the other hand, Kim Kuk-shin, a professor at the Korea Institute for National Unification, said he thought the next move was up to North Korea. "Their tough stance has been their bread and butter in the negotiations," he said. "They will try to stick to it but they also know that the ball is in their court."
Mr. Kim said he thought pressure on North Korea would now grow quickly.
"There is now a time constraint and the United States might use the UN Security Council to exercise more pressure," he said.
As for U.S.-South Korean relations over the next four years, the analysts said the South Korean government was being hopeful. With sensitive issues such as the Yongsan Garrison relocation and U.S. troop cuts behind Washington and Seoul, prospects for the alliance appeared to be improving, but analysts said much depended on whether the North Korean nuclear crisis could be resolved.
"Seoul's relationship with Washington has been bumpy because of different perceptions on how to deal with the North. This trend will continue," said Kim Ki-jeong, a professor of politics and foreign affairs at Yonsei University. "Any improvement in the inter-Korean relationship depends on the six-party talks," added the professor.
Meanwhile, South Korean officials expressed optimism that a fourth round of negotiations with the North would soon be scheduled. "The re-election clears up all the uncertainties. There was a consensus among the parties involved in the talks that as soon as the U.S. presidential election is over that things should get started," said a Foreign Ministry official.
Screw him Sean, leave it alone brother, who cares. As fas as I am concerned, Blue states can go join Canada any time they want. The rest of us would be better off, and after few months they'd be asking if they can come back to "Jesusland."

I care. He can change it and the tag line above himself quickly or I'll ban him until he does.
It's unnecessary, spiteful and deliberately antagonistic.

And also wicked funny, yo. I'm wondering, though: antagonistic to whom? Jesus people are happy that they're living in Jesusland, people who aren't Jesus wish they weren't living in Jesusland, and those of us in the United States of Canada are hoping secession comes sooner rather than later.
It's not a religious statement, it's a political one.

It doesn't matter. Fact remains you're deliberately trying to piss people off and bait them. Well, you baited me. Problem is, I can do something about it.
