Pat Tillman Called An Atheist By Army Officer

PAT TILLMAN CALLED AN ATHEIST BY ARMY OFFICER

Just heard this on Lou Dobbs a few minutes ago. This Army officer stated that due to Pat being and "ATHEIST", and not a "CHRISTAIN" and his family should just shut up and basically get a life, and let it be for what it is.

For all of us who loved and rooted for Pat while in college, nfl, or in the military. we should all be appalled by this army officer. This officer once was in charged of investigating Pat's death. By the way this Army Officer was repromenaded for his poor investigation.

Now this really SUCKS...!!!

Old news. Discussed here last Fall.

Just another example of military leadership gone badly askew.

It just sounds like more of what i've hbeen hearing over the last several years.

The army infrastructure has started to have an increasing Evangelical overtone. There have been documented problems at various military training institutes like West Point of the last few years, where 'Religious Correctness' for want to a better term has become important.

Geez Nidan, give it a rest - you're always looking for a Christian in the woodpile...

That it is true doesn't matter I suppose ?

There have been a number of incidents at military academies which have shown worrying trends

yes, religion in all forms must be weeded out of all government agencies - no one shall have any personal relationship with any deity.

Looks like Tillman was reading the Book of Mormon before his death.

He also had read the Quran, and a wide variety of other books. He was not religious -- doesn't mean he wasn't spiritual.

No one shalll promote their personal relationship with their deity on my fricking tax dollar.

I agree. I am Catholic but I do not talk about my faith or pray publicly. I do that privately at home and in church. I don't like it when someone comes up to me and tries to force their beliefs on me.

Our government should not be paying for certain religious groups to put pressure on cadets.

Thanks for the reference, I couldn't remember which academy it was.

I heard there was some pretty outrageous activities going on there. One of which was certain Evangelical activist groups got free access, administrative support, while other religions [even Chrsitian sects] were excluded whenever possible.

There was also what appeared to be organized pressure on cadets to becomes evangelicals.

Quote:
During duty day or duty night, he argued no service member should be allowed to force or coerce other service members to accept a religious faith.

He said, "Dominionist Christianity praying and preying on non-Evangelical Christians saying you know what, you're not Christian enough."
I have no problem with religion, I do have a problem with one particular group being granted vastly greater access and backing. I also have a problem with encouraging pressure on cadets that want nothing to do with those groups.

So no, to say I want religion excluded would be utterly and completely incorrect. Giving Evangelical activist groups almost exclusive access and support [both financial and authoritative aka pressure] is wrong

The military is also full of marriages after 2 weeks of courtship. Zenny could probably explain this better than I, but it has to do moreso with the longing for connections and roots in unfamiliar and ambiguous situations or settings. Love and religion are easily accessible....
