An Arizona State University professor has been identified as the creator of an anti-war poster using the image of the late Pat Tillman in his Army Ranger uniform.
John Jota Leanos, an assistant professor of Chicano studies at ASU, said he started receiving hostile e-mails about the poster on Friday.
Leanos said he and several students created more than 200 copies of the 18-by-24-inch poster with his own funds and hung them last week on buildings in downtown Phoenix as part of a monthly art walk.
The posters include a message in first-person voice as if Tillman were speaking from the grave. The text reads, in part: "Flawed perceptions of myself, my country and the War on Terror resulted in the disastrous end to my life."
Tillman, a former ASU and Arizona Cardinals football player, was killed April 22 by friendly fire in Afghanistan.
Leanos said his intent with the poster was to pay tribute to Tillman and to stimulate public discussion on the war.
"The idea was to open up a dialogue about Tillman's story - about Tillman's heroic nature," he said.

If this is this dildo's way of paying tribute to a man like Pat Tillman, he is obviously totally out of touch with reality. To denigrate Pat Tillman's sacrifice like that is criminal. ASU should fire him.

is that Tillman was doing what we should be concentrating on - finding Osama.
Professor guy should make a poster about the Iraq boondoggle and leave Pat alone...

Seriously, did it never enter this guy's head that this might NOT be a good idea? Too many professors think in vacuums and don't ever stop to wonder how people outside their own little circle will interpret/see things.
