Pat Robertson prays for the "removal" of liberals in the Supreme Court

Basically askes God to finishl'em off - frickin psycho.
A true Christian would shut his mouth up. If anyone needs to go, it is Robertson and the rest of his hate-filled cronies.

Broadcaster Pat Robertson calls for retirement of justices
Tuesday, July 15, 2003 Posted: 8:56 AM EDT (1256 GMT)

Robertson urged his audience Monday to pray for God to remove three justices from the Supreme Court.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Virginia (AP) -- Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson urged his nationwide audience Monday to pray for God to remove three justices from the Supreme Court so they could be replaced by conservatives.

"We ask for miracles in regard to the Supreme Court," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "The 700 Club."

Robertson has launched a 21-day "prayer offensive" directed at the Supreme Court in the wake of its 6-3 June vote that decriminalized sodomy. Robertson said in a letter on the CBN Web site that the ruling "has opened the door to homosexual marriage, bigamy, legalized prostitution and even incest."

The same letter targets three justices in particular: "One justice is 83-years-old, another has cancer and another has a heart condition. Would it not be possible for God to put it in the minds of these three judges that the time has come to retire?"

Judging from the descriptions, Robertson was referring to Justice John Paul Stevens, who was born in 1920, and Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who had colon cancer surgery in 1999. The identity of the third justice was unclear.

Not justifying what he said but where does he ask God to "finish them off" ? Simply asking that they are removed or leave their position? I think many are doing to same for Bush.

The part where he states "The same letter targets three justices in particular: "One justice is 83-years-old, another has cancer and another has a heart condition."

While he then says to retire, the way he brings up the health conditions makes you know what his real wish is - for God to strike them dead.

WOW talk about reading into things. People with those conditions should consider retiring. Don't put words in peoples mouths. Simply prefacing a statement about them retiring. Heaven forbid someone mention acutal facts about their state of Health!

Pat Robertson has a long track record of publicly praying for the destruction of what he perceives to be "enemies of God" - like when he prayed on 700 Club for God to send hurricanes to destroy Orlando and Disney World because they had a "Gay Day".

Of course, no hurricanes hit central florida, but several did hit Virginia, where he lives.

Any Christian should be ashamed of him, and run away from associating with him as fast as you can.

I am not associating with him I was just saying don't try to make something where there isn't. You are putting words in his mouth to fill your own agenda.

I have never seen his Christian show. All I know of Pat Robertson is that he was once a Presidential candidate many years ago. What I do know is that you sound like you have a deep hatred for this guy. You have already put words into his mouth that I don't see the evidence of him saying.

I don't mind him praying for people who don't think like him to be removed from a power position over him. The removal from power of people believed to be poor leaders is what this country's democracy system is based on. Since I am opposed to abortion I also hope that all those Family Planning offices would be destroyed in some natural way.

The only thing in this entire thread that is wrong are words that you put in his mouth. That's not right, Jon.

I live in Orlando and not only have we not had any hurricanes since then, we've had some of the best weather in the 12 years I've been here.

I don't know why you guys are defending Roberts. He makes the rest of you look bad. This isn't about taking sides, he is someone who uses Christianity. Just because he's a prominant religious figure doesn't mean he's a good one. Isn't the antichrist supposed to appear as a false prophet? Side note: please please please do not interpret that as me saying he is the antichrist, it's just an example that you can't trust everyone. This is someone that "do not take thy lords name in vain" applies to . Do you look up to Judas for being an apostle? How about the Inquisition. As much as I disagree with many of you on this board I think you are good people and are too good to be defending this jerk.

I am not defending Roberts, I am saying Jon shouldn't be putting words into someone's mouth.

Jon doesn't like being misrepresented. He shouldn't misrepresent others. It's a double standard.

Jon,

I'm afraid I missed your post with equal outrage when the liberal
Julianne Malveaux, of USA Today (who has a much larger audience than Pat Robertson) said about Clarence Thomas:

"I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease."

Whereas you interpreted Robertson's comments to mean he wanted people to die, I'm quite certain there is more than just a vague connotation in her statement.

So, could you please repost your outrage concerning her racist statement actually wishing for the death of Clarence Thomas. I'm sure it's in the archives somewhere....

If I had seen that on the front page of any of the websites I normally scan on a daily basis (CNN, Fox, AZRepublic) I would have - that is an outragous statement on her part as well - and indefensable.

Glad to hear that there are no other pressing issues that Mr. Robertson would rather have his faithful pray for.

I am by NO means defending him. Just saying that he should not be putting words in peoples mouths.
