Are you including our current President in this statement?
If so, I am curious who you are saying he "sold his soul" to?

Zero - please... I know you have contructed a memorial tribute to Obama in your front yard. You can't really expect me to engage in this debate with you.

Let me ask: Can you come up with one thing that Obama has said or done that you disagree with? Anything?

To answer your question though Zero... IMO Obama is no different than the rest of them. He uses people just as much as any other politician. I would think Rev Wright might have a thing or two to say about that...
Obama is steering this country into a brick wall. It's convenient for him still as with only 6 months or so under his belt, he can continue to blame Bush for all of this. But soon, that won't fly anymore. And the trillions upon trillions of debt and deficits will be his to answer to...
The "good" war in Afghanistan will continue to develop and require more and more blood and money from America.
His careless, wild spending will only deepen and lengthen this recession/depression.
Meanwhile, Obama will continue to spend and buy (I really wouldn't be surprised to see him eventually loan $$ to states as more and more begin to look like California).
I know you believe Obama is different. That after 40 years of the same, he honestly, truly and really is "the one". Dream on Zero... I'm sure it's a happier place living in that world.

82, as someone who is looking for a reason to wear the conservative moniker again, I don't get your allegiance to Palin. At all. She wasn't going to entice me back. At all. And I'm the voter you're hoping to lure back.
What do you want the Republican party to look like? Here's what I want it to look like:
- Focus on the debt. The debt. The debt. Did I mention the debt?
- Less focus on polarized social issues like abortion and gay rights.
- Personal rights, sane less gov't (i.e. less gov't, not no gov't)
- Belief that empowering the individual fuels power to the people
Present me that candidate and I'll come back to the GOP. Palin is a step in the other direction.

I am deeply troubled with the continuing loss of innocent lives at the hands of our military/CIA in Pakistan and Afganistan.
I am concerned about the high levels of federal spending, though it may be necessary to pull us out of this economic mess, I am not comfortable with it.
I don't like the legal limbo of that particular category of Guantanimo detainees that are not being prosecuted, but just being held indefinitely. Don't know what I would do differently, but I don't like it.
Those are a few things that I am troubled by.
As for your other post, it doesn't support your assertion that Obama is a "bottom-feeding, scum-sucking, sell-my-soul to the highest bidder...".
Being entitled to my own opinion, and having seen Obama enough in person and otherwise, I beg to differ. Say what you want about his policies, but the man has a genuine concern for the American people and everyday people like you and I.

OK - for the record, I am no longer a registered Republican. I was thinking about making a separate thread just to make that proclaimation... maybe I should. I am now an officially registered Indy...
Gadd - not sure why you interpret my comments as an "allegiance" to Palin? My switch to being an Indy should demonstrate how much faith I placed in her...
As for your description what a plausible, attractive conservative candidate should look like, I say -

Not a bad list... As for his genuine concern - millions felt the same way about many previous Presidents. I've learned to be much more skeptical. I'll now start from a position of "they are all scum" and would be quite pleased to be proven wrong!

This lady is an absolute freakshow. If this is some kind of political calculation aimed at 2012, she just shot her head off. If she can even make it through the GOP primary now with all the sniping she'll get over this, it'll only get worse and cause her to wither completely in the final showdown.
That said, I don't think this is about that at all. There is something there that is gonna be revealed soon because that kind of political calculation just doesn't make any rational, logical, reasonable sense. Oh, but I guess we ARE talking about Palin after all....

That would get my vote also. I might even vote 200 to 300 times for that.
