Napolitano
Anyone else still unimpressed with her when she gives a speech?
She spoke on the "gas crisis" yesterday and basically told everyone to "think of your fellow citizen...do not top off your tank when you go to a gas station." Umm...yeah right.
Then she says her hands are basically tied, and it's just going to take time to resolve this situation. Said she had no power to speed the process up, and get more truckloads of gas into the state. (I guess executive orders only work for gay issues and she's powerless to speed things up unless it's bending the law to rename a peak).
I am not a psychic, but I don't see re-election in Janet's future.

Why isnt there more outrage at the retailers who are gouging you guys during the shortage? Not only is it horribly unethical, I would think it'd be illegal....
Call me an optimist, BIM but I dont know how an Executive Order by the governor of any state would be worth a hill of beans to any private company who might truck more gas into the state.
Id be more pissed at the stations.

I think that Napolitano has been woefully unimpressive thru this crisis. Just the fact that she has downplayed this event to being just a "problem" and not a "crisis" seems to point out that she is just totally out of her depth here. I'm sorry, when 9 out of 10 gas stations don't have gas, don't try to pass off that there is plenty of gas here, and that it is all out own faults for panic buying. She comes off as totally clueless.

Only if he could keep gas at the stations and lines off the roads, that is of course until I am in favor of less government interference.

Pissed at them, yes...but the problem is, a few stations price gouge, and then everyone else is almost forced to do it because they aren't making the money that everyone else is.
A law, which they have in many states, to prevent gouging would stop this from happening.

So, then, why isn't the rage directed at the State Legislature since they would be the ones who have chosen to allow this type of business practice to seemingly flourish in the state.

I got an idea!
Everyone in Phoenix should curb their gas consumption during this "crisis" (HA! crisis over a non life threatening shortage. Thats rich.) and take public transportation!
Wait. You guys constantly vote down mass transit improvements! Reap what you sow, AZ!
It sounds unduly harsh, and Im honestly not shoving it in any one particular persons' face, but I honestly have little empathy for the state of AZ in this.

The one good thing to come out of all of this will be a law against price-gouging. Personally, I am noting which stations are charging the $3-$5 prices and will NEVER buy anything from them.
Luckily, I haven't been affected by this yet. The gas station we regularly go to (Kicks66/Circle K at Dobson/Guadalupe) gets gas everyday still and the price is only $1.99 as of this morning, with long lines of course.
We have a truck with dual tanks, so we have yet to wait in any kind of a gas line. We're not looking forward to it if that happens. We've just reduced our driving in order to conserve our gas as long as possible.
I am still waiting for an explanation from the company that runs the pipeline. They got the greenlight to run gas through the pipe at 80%, but instead chose to shut it down completely (without explanation).

BIM one thing to do would be to report them to their parent companies and make sure you let them know you wont be buying from them again. Maybe you would have some effect in getting the parent to reign in the franchisee.
That kind of business practice is abhorrant.
Ya gotta LOVE the way people do business in this country.

We're getting light rail, it's been voted in, but nothing like New York.
We've only been a state for about 90 years, how long has NY been around? How long did it take you guys to build your subways?
It's a different culture out here, L.A. doesn't have subways either. You really like to rip us for just NOT being NY and it's kind of annoying
