My point which you are missing is that what I don't see is the bulk of the 'reasonable' types standing up to be counted in controling the fanatics.

It seems like many of the more moderate types are content to let the fanatics run tings certainly on the national stage. You have sympathy for their position on Gay marriage, abortion, evolution, school prayer etc, so you let the more exteme positions slide by. That way you feel you will get a few of these religious changes encoded into law and to you that can't be bad.

I don't see concern for Jon's rights, I don't see concern for womens rights and I certinaly don't see concern for mixing or religion into science policy.

I'm not suggesting that you or many here [with an obvious exception to our resident right wing extremist] would push all of the these issues or push them as hard as some in DC are doing, but you won't vote out the folks that do, ergo you are tacitly supporting them.
What a pathetic disclaimer to end such a personal attack. It's exactly what you're suggesting so just nut up and say it.

And why would I want to reign our nut cases in? They are what balances you and the freak left wingers out.

wtf is your purpose of bringing Jon into your post anyway? Looking to start trouble? Or just being an *******.

I'm sorry you think it was a personal attack and I'm even more sorry you think it was a pathetic attempt to respond.

This has obviously hit a nerve with you, maybe you should ask yourself why that is.

btw: The You, that you hilighted wasn't talking about you personally all the time. The word you can be either specific or generic. In most of the casec it was pretty obviously generic. ie The word you was intended to decribe a class of folks. In this case the vast bulk of religious folks who are you say not fanatics.

I guess I have to be more careful on my wording, geeze I thought it was pretty obvious.

As for Jon my point was that the fantics are content with discrimitation against gay folks. In fact I had the misfortune to flick past the 600 club one day recently and before I relaized what I was watching I was transfixed. I was witnessing an unbelivable example oh homophobia and bigotry, I have never witnessed anything like it on american TV before. These are the folks that have the ear of the President and the GOP and it disgusts me.

You are a fine one to talk about personal attacks with the wording you used here. I have no idea what you want me to "nut up to" not that I would ever use such a phrase myself.

It could well be as I said I'm probably out of the loop on that one since it doesn't really impact me that much. If they are using religion to make such decisions that's dead wrong.

The most powerful human force is the urge to procreate and with the advent of the net, kids are more informed than we ever were and more aware of the consequences. Try to keep them as safe as you can and hope they choose the right partners.

So, I wanted to jump into this debate......

(Then I will gracefully jump out, hopefully in one piece... )

I will always prefer abstinance above all other forms of birth control for those who are not married, especially those who are underage, all for a myriad of reasons.

However, I would rather see people practice safe sex than not at all.

And, to those who are christians, we should hold ourselves to a higher standard, all for the Glory of God. Not so as to parade around with self-pride and a holier than thou attitude but to show everyone of the power that Christ can give to those who ask to live a Godly life. So, those that are christians need to keep themselves until marriage because that is the way God has designed it to be. Sex is a sacred act of intimicey with another person whom you are committing your life to be with.

For all others, please practice safe sex.

(I now exit gracefully.......and in one piece. )
