I was at a business establishment today, and saw a flag very much like this one flying from their flagpole. Anyone have any thoughts (I'll post my in a bit)?

I guess it would depend to me if this establishment was not Native land or not.
Nope. Morristown, AZ

1. I actively oppose a constitutional amendment banning any flag desecration.
2. I strongly support a person's right to display a flag like this, wear flag ties, display a flag with a swastika where the stars should go, or douse it in gasoline to burn it.
All that being said, I really find flying an altered flag in place of a real flag offensive, and I really don't like it. It sends a pretty negative message of the person's patriotism, I think, although that may well not be fair on my part. Additionally, for the purpose of this flag, I think I would be REALLY offended if I were a Native American, as this is the flag that so dramatically changed their lives.
Now it may be the veteran in me that is offended in all this... I am not sure. But it most certainly is offensive to me and I had difficulty not "having a little chat about it" with the business owner .... but I moved on.

I am on the fence on this one but since I am sure it is more of a political statement about the Native American, freedom of speech trumps an American symbol no matter how much I might find it offensive. As long as it is not the flag I salute, it should not bother me.

I guess I don't see the issue? All I see is a flag an American Indian might fly. I see it as a pride thing saying I'm Indian AND I'm an American. Looks Patriotic to me. I don't see a political statement. I see pride in heritage and country. Old and new I guess.

My issue is that I'm a traditionalist. You just don't mess with the flag. If it's a patriotic statement they're trying to make, I would personally prefer it done with an American flag being flown with a separate one of the Native American underneath, preferably smaller.
To me, the American Flag is first & foremost; all else should be secondary.
The ironic part in all of this is that I am amongst those that feel we stole this country from the Native Americans, and am ashamed of what we've done with it.

Every country has a past like that. At some point, you have to look past that.........
