My issue is that I'm a traditionalist. You just don't mess with the flag. If it's a patriotic statement they're trying to make, I would personally prefer it done with an American flag being flown with a separate one of the Native American underneath, preferably smaller.
To me, the American Flag is first & foremost; all else should be secondary.
The ironic part in all of this is that I am amongst those that feel we stole this country from the Native Americans, and am ashamed of what we've done with it.
I don't see it as a political statement. These people aren't selling them as such. LINK
But if we are going to go with tradition trumps all and we want to ask that everyone speak the native language, as Steve Martin once said.. time to break out the Apache flag and learn that language.
Here is a topic for you: Did we steal the land from them or did we win it via one long war.
Yes, we treated them beyond horribly, but, for example, the French and English did that to each other for years.
I am sure many on here will hate me for this, but certain tribes were friendly to the English in the Revolutionary and the War of 1812. They picked the wrong side.

I feel stole it, more than won it.
We knew what we were doing from the get-go. They didn't. Had they known & cooperated with each other, I'd imagine they'd have stomped the hell out of us in the beginning & we wouldn't have come back right away. It was inevitable, though. Equipment/technology would have won out.
I just don't like that part of our history at all. The thanks they got for welcoming us in...ugh.
Not bothered by that flag - there are so many possible messages behind the depiction that whatever inteaded artistic meaning is simply lost in translation.
