Fight Back.

"This Wednesday, May 14, Contact Senators Kyl and McCain to Defeat the Bush Tax Giveaway
“Democracy can work, particularly when a lot of people get on the phone or by email, and just let them know what’s on your mind.” – President Bush, 5/5/03

President Bush has ordered his most loyal and partisan supporters to contact their Senators to pressure them to pass his irresponsible tax giveaway.

It’s Time To Fight Back.
The national Democratic Party is partnering with MoveOn.org, People for the American Way, Campaign for America’s Future, and dozens of other groups representing millions of Americans to organize a massive public mobilization. On Wednesday, May 14, join us by calling and emailing Senators Jon Kyl and John McCain to let them know that the majority of Americans oppose more irresponsible tax cuts that go overwhelmingly to the wealthiest of Americans.

Simply go to the website www.StopBudgetDisaster.com In just two simple clicks, you can send a letter to Senators Kyl and McCain asking them to vote against Bush’s irresponsible tax giveaway. Or contact them at the information listed below:

Speaking of Genuine Stimulus Plans…
Senate Democrats introduced a plan to get the sluggish Bush economy moving again. The plan includes targeted tax breaks, help for small businesses, desperately needed aid for state and local governments, and help to laid-off workers.

It provides the immediate stimulus our economy needs at a fraction of the cost of Bush’s ineffective scheme. The Democratic stimulus plan includes:

A $300 tax credit for each adult and $300 tax credit for the first two children in every family.
An increase in the child tax credit.
Marriage penalty relief.
A 50 percent tax credit that helps employers maintain health coverage for their workers, encouraging businesses to create new jobs.
$40 billion to help states weather the worst fiscal crisis since World War II without raising taxes or cutting vital services.
Extended unemployment benefits for 4 million laid-off workers.
The plan would cost just $152 billion over ten years, a fraction of the cost of the Bush tax giveaway, avoiding the enormous debt the Bush plan would create for the next generation. The vast majority of the stimulus in the Democratic plan would come when it's needed: immediately.

The Bottom Line…
Who is going to pay for President Bush's $674 billion tax scheme? With most of the benefits going to the richest Americans, it's the rest of us who are going to pay the price. Bush's huge tax cut will further hurt our economy and saddle the nation with bigger budget deficits and debt for years to come.

This means less investment for education, prescription drugs, and homeland security. It puts the Social Security trust fund at an even bigger risk. And with states facing massive budget deficits, it puts even more pressure on local governments to cut the services you use every day.

Hopefully,

McCain will continue to be a moderate Republican and a fiscal conservative and move to stop Bush's plan.
