Feeling bad....

There is a homeless guy here about my age. He is mentally retarded and I see him almost every week wandering the streets while I am at work. He wears those orange newspaper bags on his feet and hands in the winter.

he never bothers anyone for change or even talks to anyone but himself. Most mornings I see him he is doing his routine of looking into trash cans throughout the city for food. Occasionally I give him money for food or bring out food from the deli in the morning.

Well i decided to buy him a nice pair of boots and gloves for the winter last january. The last time I saw him he had a black eye and the newspaper bags on his hands and feet again. I thinkhe must have been assaulted for those items and I feel a tremendous amount of guilt.

not really sure why I posted this other than the fact that I just saw him and felt very bad and wanted to get it off my chest.

Is that the place next to the river - there's a grassy park by there?

Yes. I like to get a WSJ in the square, grab a cup of coffee, drink and read by the river when the weather is nice. It's beautiful down there. You lived in Harrisburg?

I guess that solves the crime of why the crazy guy is still hanging around. He saw things that drove him mad....MAD I TELL YOU!

As long as SteFan doesn't show up wearing newish boots and an abrasion on his knuckles - all might be well.

I work in Camp Hill, but go to Straberry Square once in a while to grab a paper, buy a sub, or whatever.

This is depressing. Someone should take care of him, whether it be a private organization or mental hospital, but many of those amenities are quite weak.
