Edwards to run in '08....

Edwards' Web site jumps gun on presidential run

Story Highlights

•Former North Carolina senator's Web site says he's in the race
•Formal announcement was supposed to be Thursday
•Edwards was John Kerry's running mate in 2004

WASHINGTON (AP) -- His campaign says Democrat John Edwards plans to make another run for the White House.

John Kerry's former running mate had planned to make the announcement Thursday while visiting a New Orleans neighborhood that was decimated by Hurricane Katrina. But staffers accidentally activated his campaign Web site today -- inadvertently announcing the former North Carolina senator's intentions online.

An adviser says, "Better a day earlier than a day late."

Edwards was in the Lower 9th Ward today for a photo opportunity, doing yard work for a woman whose home was gutted by Katrina but is close to being rebuilt.

Edwards did not cancel his plans for a formal announcement because of former President Gerald R. Ford's death late Tuesday. He issued a statement saying he was deeply saddened by the news and calling Ford a "true leader."

"He called on us to never lose faith that we can change America," Edwards said.
I remember during '04 where I wished that Edwards were running over Kerry for president. He's a good candidate....

Oh, and this is yet another thread that shows the need for a subforum....

We should probably have a subforum called 2008 Presidential Election.

I see Edwards more as a VP, than a President.

As of Now, the Dems have more quality Candidates to choose from...

I'd take Hillary, Obama, Edwards over McCain, Guliani, Gingrich any day of the week...

All they would need is a big D in front of their name and you would pick them no matter who the R's would throw up.

I'd take Obama out of that list.

Guliani and McCain are serious players. I'd take Guliani too.

I'd never take Hilarious or Gingrich. Edwards no...I thought he was a good candidate in the last election but after looking into his views I don't like him.

The Dems should run Biden. Biden/Obama would get my vote over practically any of the potential republican tickets.

I may have voted for McCain in 2000, but his actions over the past 4 years or so has made me discount him... He is a sell out.

Yes he is.

His stance on Indian gaming proved that as well.

Edwards to run in 08----------hopefully he knows which direction he is going and doesn't try to run in 4 directions at once (see John Kerry - 04).
