I dont know how big this is or was in AZ, but here in Md (where lacrosse is bigger than any other sport) everyone has been buzzing about the Duke Lacrosse scandal.
I am not sure if anyone watched or listened to the three guys speak in their press conference or not, but it was absolutely heartbreaking. There whole lives have been destroyed. It is a shame that it is that easy to destroy someone. These guys and 40 of their teamates lost a full year of playing the game they love over a real-life worthless whore. 14 of those guys and 1 of the accused were seniors and have lost their final year of collegiate eligability. Two of the boys openly admitted that their families spent over 1 million each in their legal defense and questioned how many other have been locked up on bogus charges without the adequite fund to prove their innocence. I am sorry, but this whole situation just makes me sick to my stomach.
Now that the these guys have been aquitted of all charges where are Al Sharpton and
Jesse Jackson at with their apologies. When this first became an issue the two of them were quick to jump out on TV and radio and blast these poor guys. "These three white racist scumbags just thought they could do anything to that poor girl". You would think that with what has been going on with Imus lately, they would be quick to address the issue and apologize to these guys who they slandered and verbally bashed over national airwaves with absolutely no proof or reguard for letting the legal system carry out its duties before they opened their mouths.
Personally, I cannot wait to hear the astronomical amount of the settlement they will take from Duke for their undeserved punishment and I hope the state's attorney is in the unemployment line ASAP. I also hope that 1 of the 47 different DNA's they found in various bodily orphasis' of that girl gave her a a new strand of STDs that are completely impossible to cure and cause wart growth on the forehead.
ps- sorry I didn't see there was already a thread posted concerning this--guess I was in a rush to vent
