I'll start this in P&R because I figure it will end up here.
Anybody happen to catch the latest made for T.V. musicals on the Disney Channel?
1. Highschool Musical: Star basketball player and son of the coach resents his overbearing father. He'd rather sing in his highschool musical than play in the big game.
2. Jump In: Young and talented boxer resents his former Golden Gloves father who is pushing him too hard to box. He'd rather jump rope in a double dutch competition than box.

Seriously, those movies are decent kid movies and in both cases, if it were real life, those dudes would have been hittin' it with those girls. I never saw anything nefarious in those movies, I just saw them as extolling courage by breaking conventions....

I can not tell you how immensely popular that High School musical is. I had never heard of it till I took my nieces to Disney and they love it.

Oh, I know. I have watched it and it is fairly entertaining. I'm just questioning the message and agenda of Disney. Is Jump In a result of a lack of creativeness by writers? Are they just milking the successful Highschool Musical formula? Or is their an agenda behind this?
