Interesting stuff. Been teaching my kids about money and banking for years. But the major question is when does Chapter 20 "What should you do?" become available? It just says "coming soon".

It's addicting and yeah he hasn't posted his conclusions chapter yet about what to do but if you look at his website a lot of that is contained there.

The central idea is that if everyone had that much knowledge the people in Washington couldn't push us around anymore and we'd all make better informed citizens.

I'd suggest that in watching that series you now have a greater understanding of our economy than most elected representatives.

The central theme of this is that at some point the human race is going to have to ditch the exponential growth model or perish, there are no other options.

Our economic systems of money and banking are not built to handle less than exponential growth.

We have to re-invent our entire economic systems in a way that allows wealth to accrue not be syphoned off as it has been.

Personally I'd use this series to pick professions and make career decisions.

Energy is where it's at, we should massively shift our productive efforts out of giving massages, taking burger orders and banking into Wind, and Solar power industries.

Energy, energy, energy, it's all about energy, make your investments accordingly, Warren Buffett recently dumped huge money into rail stocks, because it uses less energy to transport goods, work in that industry.

It should allow you to make smart life decisions and it should allow you to prosper in the new economy.

Well that's a pick me up.

I wasn't surprised by much of the information in there but I will still need a couple of days to absorb all that.

The inflation graph was pretty mind blowing.

I have considered for quite a while that the national debt and government spending itself (and us, our kids, grand kids, etc) into the poor house was the biggest issue we faced as a nation but now I am not so sure it takes top billing.

The amazing thing is that the cause of the current mess we're in, the entire cause absent the greed and corruption is that we've stopped growing.

We are destroying the foundations of the economic system we've inherited by not growing our population.

The system we are so used to cannot exist long term unless our population grows exponentially.

This is why Bush et al were so against their own base on the immigration issue, it's our only real source of population growth and without that we're doomed under our current banking and economic system.

Instead of developing a replacement they're trying to band aid the old system and that is doomed to failure.

In a debt based economic system, if you pay down the debt you extinguish the money in the system because the money is created from debt.

This means you need ever expanding debt to expand the money supply to fuel the growth and that is built upon the idea that you can always grow your population.

Central bankers skim the til, they simply make money on the churn, but the entire system train wrecks when the population stops growing, then you must expand the new debt onto the same people so everyone's debt levels must rise, that's why our average debt per person has ramped so drastically.

It's an fundamentally unstable system in a zero growth population then you get deflation, ie a contraction of the money supply as in Japan.

That's why they have deflation despite all efforts to the contrary, they're not able to assume new debts and they're a net savings nation, this is the only reason they can't break the cycle of deflation because they aren't growing their population and their people are net savers.

They're actually getting richer, but that's only possible becasue someone else is gettng poorer and mainly that's us.

Once you grasp this concept you understand a lot about why our system is so screwed up.

Intelligent developed economies and societies all across the world are doing the same thing, it's why Europe has been overrun buy muslims, because they are the equivalent of the mexicans for us, without them the populations would be falling.

Japan would be entirely depopulated by like 2500 at the rate they're going. This phenom exists in every very developed economy in the world, only the third world is growing exponentially anymore and if they stop the entire system of economics would collapse relatively quickly.

We have outgrown our system in an intelligent way, but the system hasn't changed to adapt to the new realities, we've semi instinctively realized growth does not equal prosperity forever, but the system is not designed for that knowledge.

There is part one of 8 on you tube that goes over exponential growth and our world population.

The worlds population is still growing but it's at a much slower rate, however the cheaters as it were will prevail long term under our current economic systems, ie China will overpower the rest of the world at the rate they are growing simply because the old economic system will reward them for this and impoverish the rest of us right up until unprecedented problems literally rip the world apart because of the third world growth going unchecked.

Resource depletion will go vertical and wars will break out if we don't do something quickly.

I stopped at #5 so I wouldn't slit my wrists. I'll pick it up later.

Nothing I wasn't aware of, I was just hoping I was wrong.

Awesome stuff. Scary, but awesome. It's things like this that got me on the Ron Paul bandwagon. Of course, being the only candidate that was talking about these things got him labeled a wacko.

Man, I just finished all of the sections and have drawn the conclusion that our government is doing the following.

We're so screwed.

It provides a good base to evaluate what needs to be done.

Obama says the right things about energy at least, that has to be job one.
