Chris Wallace: Registered Democrat

Chris Wallace: Registered Democrat
Bill Clinton accused interviewer Chris Wallace of doing a "nice conservative little hit job” when Wallace recently grilled him about his administration’s pursuit of Osama bin Laden on "Fox News Sunday.”
Evidently Clinton didn’t do his homework regarding Wallace’s political leanings. The Washington Post did – and found that the newsman has been a registered Democrat for more than 20 years.
Wallace, who lives in Washington, told the Post: "The reason I’m a registered Democrat is that in Washington, D.C., there is really only one party. If you want a say in who’s going to be the next mayor or councilman, you have to vote in the Democratic primary.”
Wallace also said he’s voted for members of both parties, and insisted that he keeps his politics out of his work: "However I vote personally, I think I’m professional enough that it doesn’t have anything to do with the way I cover the news.”

The point is that Clinton called him out as a member of the conservative party.

So, since he lives in D.C. and it carries a vast majority Demo vote. He registered Democrat so he can vote for the most appealing candidate that might take office instead of "wasting" his vote?
That doesn't sounds an aweful like semantics and doesn't show Wallace's political leanings, it shows the futility of the electorial system.
Ya know, if you know a Demo will get elected, register that way so you can vote against the most liberal in the Primary?

Clinton never said he was a Republican. He said he was conservative. And Chris Wallace pretty much said as much--the "only" reason he is registered Dem is so he can vote in the primary, since that's the party that always wins in DC, apparently.
Since I am liberal, I would never say the "only" reason I'm registered Dem is so I can vote in the primary.

Hell, I am registered as a republican 40. Would you claim me a conservative? If you believe Wallace has a liberal bone in his body, you have those blinders on that you accuse others of possessing.

Why take a shot at an ex-president? Isn't he a tad irrelevant?

The liberal party? That must be the big spending party that is currently in control of Congress and the White House and spending $248 billion more each year than it is bringing in. Dang liberals!

I switched about 6 years ago and registered Independent... I don't know if it is the same in every region but if you are registered independent you get a ton of garbage in the mail near election time. I have since switched back just due to the mail I was recieving. But there is no party that I consider myself affiliated with.

Ah ha. And there-in lies the real issue. Liberals feel because CW was asking hard questions, he was picking on BC. BC overreacted and it became a conservative/liberal issue rather than a chance for BC to explain why he did what he did. He had a rational explanation, but chose to take the antagonistic route. Misread on his part and only adding to the gulf between the two parties.
