Bush Senior, on occupying Iraq....
To occupy Iraq would instantly shatter our coalition, turning the whole Arab world against us and make a broken tyrant into a latter-day hero ... assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an unwinnable urban guerilla war. It could only plunge that part of the world into even greater instability.
Looks like Dubya didn't listen to daddy.....

Heh. Yeah.
But only to a degree. Jon's title of the post is simple and not meant to incite. It states simply that we will be reading a quote from GWB's dad. At the end, Jon starts a little trouble with his opinion which can be read as inciting....
I guess the other thread where I made this point seemed more purposefully inciting to me becasue the title was essentially some name calling.
Now, Jon could have simply posted the quote and asked for opinions, at which point he wouldn't have been causing any trouble at all, but he included his commentary which makes it seem like an attack.
Either way though, to this point, GWB's dad was dead on...

I get ripped if I post a quote or article without my opinion, I get ripped if I post with my opinion............

Heres a test:
Jon, where'd you cull the quote from? Is it newsworthy or did you find it in an old article and just came over here to post it and cause some trouble?

Actually, it was from the Political Compass Test Site that Strong Bad posted. Saw it, couldn't resist - nice counter to the Clinton Iraq quote posted as relevant last week.
The point was more that one should be careful in dredging up old quotes to attack the other side - because one can probably find (like the quote above) examples that discredit your side that are equally old.......

From his 1998 book. Same year as the Clinton quote the right wing was using against the correct wing last week.
