The Official "I'm a n00b" Support Thread

My name is Ken, and I'm a n00b!

Does anyone know how to play an .MPC (MP3 Collection file extention) file?

Can I get by with a codec, or does it require it's own seperate player?

I would try to get some information from a Microsoft Certified Professional, someone who passed their MCP exam. I'm not sure about the .MPC files, but I bet that someone who develops and implements Windows-based Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and Microsoft Visual Studio .NET would be able to help.

I think that someone here recently posted that they got certified in that. Let me see if I can find a link for that person.

Joel, man, you were my google idol - a 3 second search would reveal that they are Musepack files (whatever that is) and you can download a plugin.

Dissapointed. Gotta step it up.

Rats!

I'd already done a fair amount of research on this. I didn't like the answers I found. I was hoping that someone here would say "there's a WMP codec that will play it, Download it here!"

I just hate using multiple players for mutilple formats...I shouldn't be too worried though, it's only The Alan Parson's Project stuff that I downloaded anyways...

I had used Itunes for a while, but it was the shareware version, so there are a lot of bells-and-whistles that won't run on it (legally anyway).

I use Windows Media Player series 9 almost exclusively.

Yea it looks like the .MPC is for the collectorz.com music collector program or it is a musepack audio file. If it is the former you probably have to have the music collector program.

It could be a Microsoft Project Calendar.

Have you tried opening it with media player or winamp?

I just found this message board post may be what you are looking for.

This looks like a MPC decoder for winamp.

Yeah, didn't work.

I could get the player from Collectorz.com for $25.

Screw that!

Did you see my last post Ken. I downloaded it and checked it out. It is a Winamp plugin for converting MPC files.

Good luck.

Thank you very much SirChaz!

I had other things to attend to so I haven't plugged in the plug-in yet.

Stay tuned for the conclusion!
