printer problem

I had to re format the hard drive and reinstall all my software. I am running window XP home. All has gone well except my printer won't install. It is an HP Photosmart 1115 and whenever I install It I can use it, but once I restart the computer I get an error message " can't start HPHIpm09.EXE". HP shows a fix but it doesn't work.

Has anyone else had this problem and were you able to fix it?

Try this:

I don't have any experience with photosmart printers, only LaserJet

I'd rather be kicked in the nuts than install HP equipment. They have good hardware (I think, never got one to work 100%) but their software is horrible.

Here's a story:
Day 1:
1- bought HP external CD burner.
2- hooked up and loaded software.
3- chose burner to be drive F:
4- Finished install and my ZIP no longer works
5- Neither does burner
6- Unload program
7- Reload ZIP driver, HP eliminated DVD
8- Try reload
9- DVD drive disappears
10- burner doesn't work
11- can't get DVD to work.
12- give up and start beer consumption

Day 2:
1- Unload program
2- no DVD
3- 4 hours lapse
4- finally find an obscure cure on Google, reload windows media is recommended.
5- Try it, I'm desperate
6- DVD works again! :wtf:
7- pack up burner
8- return to store return HP unit

What fun that was.
