Adobe Photoshop Question

I'm scanning in pics of old newspaper clippings. All of them have little dots in the photos. Any suggestions if I can filter them out?

Here's an example - Hope this works (I had to cut down on the resolution)

Well, your scanner is picking them up when it scans it in...those dots are ON the newspaper probably.

Do you need the photos that big? If you do an Image Size, and shrink it, the dots wont be so apparent.

You could probably do it, but it would be time-consuming, basically replacing every black dot with the same color of the white space next to it.

lol - I think that would get old real quick!

Yeah - reducing the photo will solve the problem (but its not an option)

I was wondering if there was a "filter" option that might smooth it over or perhaps blend together.

I was thinking of maybe just cropping the woman out - that would take care of the background.......

At this point I figure I'll never get the original photo look - but perhaps someone might have some suggestion which filter option would be the most pleasent to look at.......

exp. color pencil vs. charcoal........
