Are you serious?
We were at my dad's place on the west side, couldn't make the game.
Very cool if you're not pulling our legs...

Can't wait to get more info on this, but I heard a promo on the radio for the 4th of July game at Hohokam.
A can of non-perishable food will save you $4 on any ticket, everyone in attendance will be given an American flag by ABC Plumbing, and there is a firework show after the game.
Go Miners !!!

Yeah, I entered the contest on the 17th and so me and my dad went yesterday. Heck, with 60 prizes we had to win something. We would have been cool with the Rigatony's gift certificate, but they called my name for the TV. Me and my dad went on the field and I read what I wrote about him. It was kinda emotional. We visited his dad just moments before in the Mesa Cemetary across the street. My grandpa died about 6 months ago, so we dropped off a baseball signed by us saying that we just wanted him to be there at the game on fathers day with us. I think he was. Never in a million years did I think that would happen.
This is what the Golden Baseball League is all about. Not winning TVs per se, but bringing fans back to baseball as it was meant to be. Every night you see people experience on field games, sit right along the baseline and HAVE FUN. Its like on Field of Dreams in a way. Its baseball. Its not high priced parking. Its not a nightclub across the street that changes its name every year. It is simply baseball, the game we grew to love as kids. This league understands that and is the most fan friendly experience I can ever remember. Attendance has been picking up, and I hope they give this a few years to truly take off because it is good for Mesa.

azsouthendzone - Congrats !!
Sounds like you've got your head on straight. The TV is nice, but the day with your dad and (visiting his dad - nice touch with the ball) was much more important.
My wife and I love the Miners, the team, the people in the organization, the atmosphere, etc.
It'll be great to meet you at an upcoming game. Maybe the next series with Japan?

I am afraid you might be right. The GBL doesn't even link to box scores off of the league's web site any longer.
I'd like to see the league prosper, but it is so tough in big cities for these types of enterprises.

I'll be there. The attendance was better this past weekend. I really think they need to give it a couple of years. Sometimes these start up leagues get all freaked out if things don't go perfectly the first year and they can the whole thing or make unecessary drastic changes. I've read that the owners already have big investments so they shouldnt lose too much the first year. But they need to expect to lose the first year and then let it grow. I think there is a place for it here. I honestly think that some people just don't know about it yet. Get the word out, and people will come. I'm sitting here watching the Diamondbacks gas can bullpen and I just realized that I've been to more Miners games this year than Dbacks games. Why? Because its fun. You can get a dollar hot dog and sit close. You can dodge line drives on the baseline. I like the Dbacks as much as the next guy, but I call Bank One Ballpark, Bank One Mall because when I go there, as I walk along the concourse..it is like a mall. Food stands, shops, people carrying shopping bags..its a mall. The Miners are a refreshing change.

Yes.
They have a balloon tradition rather than a 7th inning stretch and they toss a teddy bear into the stands for each home run.
They are the first ever team from Japan to play in an American minor league. They have no home field - all of their games are road games.

I just heard BIM's commercial. Bud Light saluting Mr. Overzealousfoulballcatcher.!! Congrats BIM!!
(The management only would ask that you stop bowling over kids and elderly women for the foul balls.)
