Sting Trade Kirkby To Calgary

The Arizona Sting have traded defenseman Rob Kirkby and a third round pick to Calgary for a first round pick and prospect Andy Secore (second rounder from the 2005 draft). The Sting had just traded for Kirkby from Calgary, but he never played for the Sting, as he had a wrist injury which will still keep him out for the first month of the season. The Sting now have 3 first rounders for the 2006 draft. The NLL is a crazy league, I tell you.

Do lacrosse players have full time jobs outside of the sport? Is it like arena football?

That's gotta suck to get traded if they do.

Yeah, NLL players do not get paid enough to live on, which is understandable considering the amount of games a year and the amount of revenue the league brings in. They only practice one day a week to accomodate this. In fact, the Sting used to practice in Toronto, as most of the players lived in that area. Most players either play in other North American leagues when the NLL isnt in season, or have regular jobs outside of lacrosse (or both, Id assume).
