New Stuff! Site Contributor and vBookie!

We're rolling out two new features today and I wanted to let you know about them and encourage you to check them out.

The first is vBookie. This is going to be a BLAST I think. It's a tool that allows people to set up games or matchups between teams or whatever, and people can bet "fake money" on them in an effort to build up a pot.

It will make predicting the outcomes of games that much more fun.

The second item is something I myself had talked about a long time ago. It's called Site Contributor and it's a way for you guys to help support the site and get some great benefits for doing it.

For a small monthly fee, you get:

1. An ADS-FREE ASFN - and therefore lighter and faster too!
2. Unlimited PM Storage
3. A bonus of A$FN 10,000 to be used in vBookie betting events.
4. "ASFN Contributor" title above your avatar.

There will be more benefits down the road, like the potential for free t-shirts and other features.

I know that when we talked about paying monthly fees here on ASFN, it was to keep the site going because of the price of the server and all the fees associated with that.

Well, I know the site has been sold to Keebali, but they are still in the same boat as I am in a way. We all want to keep the site going for a good, long time, and making it self-sustaining financially will be key.

So I encourage you to check this stuff out. VBookie of course is free and available to everyone, but I do hope you will look into the Site Contributor side of things.

Thanks!

Mike

I would pay a small fee for the VBookie access alone so I can take all of Abomb's A$SN money.

Well, we can also continue to do Amazon/Ebay -- how about an award of some sort for whoever brings in the most income that way maybe two or three times a year? (Said the recently compulsive shopper...)

OK, there. Did it.

Is there an actual explanation of A$FN dollars? I looked at the 'bank account' and it looks startlingly like real money. I've bet maybe twice in my life and sort of doubt I'll ever use v-bookie. Too bad A$FN dollars aren't applicable to anything else here.

I'd like to convert A$FN to real prizes. We just have to get real prizes first.

Quick question.

I was checking out the ASFN Contributor link.
"3. The ability to create vBookie events"

So, vBookie can only be created by a contributor?

Just checking because that rule isn't stated in this thread.

Yes. we don't want just anyone to create events. We want responsible people to make them, and I would wager (pun intended) that those willing to be contributors would create events responsibly.

That one is/was a test that was done in the moderator forum.
