Windshield Help
Well, within the last year, car ownership is hell for a poor college student. Since last summer, I had to replace the clutch, (1300), the A/C compressor (1200), the battery, (100), and was driving down the freeway today, and guess what? a rock hits the windshield, a half inch under the wiper, cracking it. I swear to god, when it rains...... Anyway, anyone have a good suggestion on what to do? spending another $300 doesn't seem to be an attractive option to me, although it seems to be the only option.....

Don't you have insurance? Or duct tape?

You sound like my freaking grandpa with the duct tape suggestion.... The crack, unfortunately, appears to be spreading, which is no good(at least in terms of a windshield)....I have insurance, but I believe the deductible is $250, not really a good solution either......any other creative ideas? El Paso BBQ sounds great, just not $300 great.....

Just say no.
Duct tape fixes everything. It's like cheese, it makes everything better.

That and I spoke to my Ins agent and he said that you can get as many glass repairs/replacements as you need and your premium will not go up.

That's true..........until it's time to re-up your insurance. It doesn't happen every time you renew, but when premiums go up, you'd better believe they look at how many claims you have.

Yup, the deductible waiver on the glass though is an option you have to add and pay for.
Repairs might be free but for replacements you have to pay your deductible or add the waiver.

You can put some clear figernail polish to slow the crack down. if it is a small chip or crack you can have it repaired. Their is a guy that comes by my work once a month to repair the glass on the work trucks. I think he just drills the chip with a dremel then he uses some sorta clear epoxy to repair the chip 30 to 60 bucks depending on how bad and how many.

Thanks for all of the responses guys, I got absolutely nailed, and the crack is almost all the way up the windshield, but I was able to get a pretty decent deal, through guess who? Good old Empire glass!! I am going to be eating ribs once a month, every month for the next 24 months from El Paso BBQ!!!!

1300 for a clutch seems a little high. I replaced the clutch in my neighbors mazda 4x4 p/u a couple of weeks ago and the parts were 145.00 and I charged him 300.00 for labor.
